THESE ARE PERILOUS TIMES!
CHRISTIANS MUST BE VIGILANT
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our
Lord, nor of me his prisoner; But be thou partaker of the afflictions of
the gospel according to the power of God.

"What is over your head is under His feet!"
"Consider Him"
by Gertrude Sanborn
He alone is worthy of our trusting;
Touched is He with every grief and pain.
He rebukes with perfect Holy knowledge;
He tried oft’ that we might patience gain.
He alone can make earthly ties grow fainter
Only He can make world-lure face away.
HE alone--none but Christ consider
As we journey on this pilgrim way.
Dear Friend out there in BFT-Land,
DARE TO BE "DIFFERENT"
Don’t tell me.
I know that "ALBA SUPER" print is difficult to read! I KNOW! Don’t worry, I’ll change it at the beginning of next
year. I promise. Guess I just like to be "different." In fact, who
doesn’t like to be "different"?--not everyone, come to think of it. It
takes real inner strength to be "different"--to run against the wind when
the wind is taking you in the wrong direction! Sometimes God plants us in a
place of life that is very "different" from others. What do we do? Cry &
complain at our lot, or live for Jesus in the "different" place?
The other day when I
was cleaning up clutter (that’s what I do when I’m not writing to you), I found
my old, little, childhood crutches.
They were the ones I used when I was in kindergarten and first
grade. Talk about "different"! Everyone stared at me and made faces. I
learned swiftly to stand alone in my ugly shoes, thankful that I could stand and
walk!
I had a brain damaged sister.
A few years ago, she died when she was sixty-five.
Maybe some of you remember my telling you about her. My mother, GERTRUDE
SANBORN, wrote poems about her. (Did you order her poem book, WITH TEARS IN
MY HEART, yet?)
Yes, Beverly was "different"! People would stare at her. It was
hard to get used to it. When I grew up and understood people and life, I could
stand by Beverly and not cringe at the stares of the impolite. My father used to
ask the gawkish, "Aren’t you glad you are not like her?"
One common ground in the human race where there is no
"difference" is our common "sin" that separates us from God. The Bible says in Romans 3: 22b-23 "there is no
"difference" for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." The
only cure for such a "difference" is the redemption found in the Lord
Jesus Christ. (Read on in that chapter.) Do you remember when you received Jesus
Christ as your personal Saviour? I do! If you don’t know, maybe you are not a
Christian.
GET TEARS POEM BOOK FOR A GIFT
AS LONG AS I’VE BROUGHT UP GERTRUDE SANBORN’S BOOK, I may as
well tell you that it makes a wonderful gift.
I can’t tell you how many people agree with me on that
fact. WITH TEARS IN MY HEART. (BFT #3106) is usually for a gift of
$25.00 to our ministry but I
want you to have it for GIFT-GIVING this season. So
contribute $15.00 plus $5.00 S & H (which means "shipping" & "handling.") to
BFT. Be sure that you mention this
UPDATE when you contribute only $15.00 + $5 S&H!!
Some get a box of 20 for $250.00. You’d be surprised what a blessing
you’ll give when you pass on WITH TEARS IN MY HEART to your
relatives and friends. One woman told me, "Your mother’s book changed my
life!" What a "difference" one book can make!
PAXINOS PREACHING
In early September, Dr. Waite and I drove to Paxinos,
Pennsylvania to be with PASTOR & MRS. KEVIN KLINE & VICTORY BIBLE CHURCH. (Call
570-672-8626 for directions if you’re ever riding up and down those hills
sometime.) Paxinos
is near Shamokin & Elysburg and a small distance from Sunbury or Danville. Now
do you know? I really enjoyed the time there (9/10-19/06). It was like a "mini"
vacation for me. We ate in local restaurants where I bought a wonderful sign
that says "FORGIVE" in big brown cursive letters! It is "different."
You’ve probably noticed it as you view our Bible For Today Baptist
Church Internet "streaming" services.
(www.BibleForToday.org). It is
to the left of my husband, as you see him behind the pulpit, right above the
original King James Bible-page that has been loaned to us by the Burns family.
My husband spoke on the
DEFENSE OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE & ITS UNDERLYING TEXTS. (BFT #3291/1-3 @ $9.00 +
$3.00 S&H). I loved the church building out there on
R.R. #1 (Box #30), Paxinos, Pa. 17860. It reminded me of the little Ohio church
where my husband and I were married fifty-eight years ago--only more modern.
Pastor Kline began his church in the basement of their home about eight years
ago--I’ve forgotten exactly. Then they had meetings in a basement-church waiting
for funds for the upper part of the building to come along. Now, it is a
full-bloom building, looking towards more growth soon. The people were warm and
friendly and very interested in the subject. I’m always impressed when a church
knows what my husband is talking about prior to his teaching them. This shows
that the pastor has been teaching his people. Does your pastor teach you
about the reasons you use the King James Bible? If he doesn’t, you’ll not be
able to defend your position in the future.
MEETING OLD & NEW FRIENDS
One of the joys of being in churches is meeting the people.
This time in Paxinos, I met a friend whom I’ve spoken with often on the phone.
We have prayed together and shared our joys and sorrows.
So it was good to meet FAY SNYDER in person! She’s found a HOME there with
Pastor Kline and his people. Even though she has a forty-five minute drive up
and down a couple mountain ridges every time she goes to church, which is most
every service, she told me that it was worth every mile. Talk about a
"difference"!
TROUBLE WITH THE CHINESE UNION VERSION
We were thrilled when David & Koda Tsai drove all the way
from North Jersey to attend the Sunday meetings. The Tsai’s are burdened for the
Chinese Bible which is called the Chinese Union Version (CUV).
Most Chinese people use this corrupted version of the Bible. It is about all
they have. A sad thing about it is that the CUV is not based on the
Textus Receptus. It has many errors in it. So the Tsai’s and a few other
burdened Chinese people are striving to record & change those poorly translated
words. (They dare to be "different.") It is difficult to translate the
Chinese language because it does not have an alphabet, etc. like the other
languages most of us are familiar with, only pictures. I think the sad thing,
about this whole Chinese Bible issue, is that many Chinese persons who are King
James Bible people in the English, do not want their wrong Chinese translation
tampered with. Instead of changing the wrongly translated words, they only speak
of the wrong translations of those words in whispers behind closed doors.
E-MAIL FROM A CHINESE FRIEND
Dear Pastor Waite,
"Thank you very much for your reply. You are
right, the commentaries in the Bible are not GOD’S WORDS. Yes, I
have a cable modem and your Website is my home page. I like your
Website very much and have learned so much from it.
(www.BibleForToday.org, click the brown bar) I admire your stand for
the TRUTH. Your defense of the SCRIPTURES is never extreme. You are
obedient to GOD’S WORDS which is to contend for the FAITH (JUDE
1:3). You have fought a good fight, you have finished the course,
you have kept the FAITH.
"Also your vast experience, high qualification
and your scholarship is immense, I hope that I can be your student.
It would be a real privilege and honor to meet you, and I hope that
I could go to your Church one day.
"I went to Belfast to visit the Free Presbyterian
Church and to attend the International Congress. I met Dr. Paisley
there and asked him about the "MIND OF MAN" book. He was not very
pleased with my question, but said that ‘they shouldn't have written
that book.’ I prayed that GOD would help him to finish well, for he
is good friend of Bob Jones University. It is not how we started, it
is how we finish, that's more important.
"I got your video tape about Fundamentalist
Mis-information (BFT #2974VHS @ $15.00 + $5.00 S&H) and The
Tiger Book (BFT#2974 @ $7.00 + $4.00 S&H). You did a
great job exposing the errors of that The Mind Of God & The Mind
of Man book. They called us terrible names, . . . not only from
Romanists but also from so-called fundamentalists. I have left the
Jesus Saves Mission--a church in Singapore which Dr. Paisley is on
the board of reference. They are very attached to BJU.
"I can no longer have fellowship with them. They
called me KJV-EXTREMIST and all the black names in the Devil's book.
They are vicious toward us who stand for the Textus Receptus
which underlies the King James Bible. I didn't take heed of what you
said in your sermons in separating from such churches; it really
brought grief to my heart. Now I am staying in the south of Malaysia
and am attending a Fundamental Independent Baptist Church. As for
your wonderful sermons on sermonaudio.com, it has been a
great blessing to me.
"I want to express my gratefulness to you for helping me to
understand GOD'S WORDS and your kindness for answering my E-mails.
GOD bless you and your family abundantly. Please remember me in your
prayers. May GOD help us to finish well! In CHRIST JESUS."
"Deep in God’s Word"
by Gertrude Sanborn
Deep in God’s Word there are hidden
Such wonders, I gasp to behold
The purpose of God and the mysteries
The Spirit of Truth doth unfold.
Hidden behind words so common,
Yet plain to the heart that will look
Are the treasures of Truth and His glory:
They are here in my wonderful BOOK.

It cost $10,800 to print this newly published book by Dr. Moorman. The BIBLE
FOR TODAY & THE DEAN BURGON SOCIETY each paid half. We still could use
contributions for this "8, 000 Differences" fund because of added
expense. Book publishing is not an inexpensive project.
THE DOCTORED NEW
TESTAMENT
Perhaps you are wondering what exactly is THE DOCTORED NEW
TESTAMENT. It is the English-speaking person’s edition of Scrivener’s
ANNOTATED GREEK NEW TESTAMENT (BFT #3138 @ $25.00 + $5.00 S&H).
Our oldest son, D. A. Waite, Jr., who authored the definitions of uncommon words
in our DEFINED KING JAMES BIBLE (BFT#3000 @ $40 & $35 for Large & Medium
Genuine Leather or $20 & $15 for Hardbacks + $7.00 S&H), carefully
researched this project so that those who do not know Greek can understand the
differences that the Westcott/Hort-type people have made in our New Testament
Scriptures. PEOPLE TELL ME ALL THE TIME WHAT AN EXCELLENT TOOL THIS IS. Have you
found it so?
BFTBC WAS BORN EIGHT YEARS AGO
My husband had no idea, when he started our
Bible For Today Baptist Church
in our home eight years ago (October 5, 1998) that there was such a thing as a
"house church movement."
Of course, he knew that the New
Testament church met in homes. I’m sure the Apostle Paul preached in many of
them--to say nothing of Timothy and Titus, even Peter! Even though we have lived
in Collingswood, New Jersey for forty-one years, Dr. Waite was never compelled
to begin a church in this area. But, one Father’s Day, he had his "fill"
of the usual "father’s day" jargon in churches, and declared, "I think
I’m gong to start a church! " " THAT WAS "DIFFERENT"! Talk
about hearing the "still small voice" of God! With the threatening winds
of a Bible version change in our church that we’d been members of for nineteen
years--and that had used the King James Bible for one hundred years-- he was
constrained to begin a-new at an age when most preachers retire. (Did Moses?) We
had no idea who would or would not attend. We decided if it were only he and I
and DICK CARROLL (our pianist), we would be there.
We have a large living room in our big house.
It seems that there is always room for
one more facet of our Bible For Today Ministry in it. So we removed all
the furniture except the piano, organ, and two bookcases and began. God has
blessed. Many doors, that otherwise had been shut, or that we had no idea
were before us, have opened up for the furtherance of the gospel because of that
Father’s Day declaration! How can we not praise God for the "difference"?
LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR.
OUR BIBLE FOR TODAY BAPTIST CHURCH IS NOT A PART OF ANY ORGANIZED "HOUSE CHURCH"
MOVEMENT. We understand that
there are such. In fact, we have had people come to our church who were
extremely "Hyper-Calvinistic" who were keenly disappointed that we were
not a part of that "Calvinistic home church movement." We didn’t know
there was such a thing! My husband is "pre-millennial" and
believes that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world and
"whosoever" sincerely repents of their sins and believes in Him will not
perish. He is a well-qualified and an educated teacher-preacher of the Words
of God. He is not swayed in his beliefs by the people who argue with him on
various subjects.
Evidently, in the
United States, there is such distress in many of these huge Rick Warren-type
churches that people--discerning or otherwise--are beginning to meet in homes in
small groups. The BFTBC is not a part of the "emerging church" or a
disgruntled split off of any church or group.
We feel that many of the "normal"
Baptist churches have lost sight of what "church" is. Many have social
goals and "happiness" euphoria desires. We don’t want to attend a church
with big promotional hoopla, repetitive choruses, and little Bible
teaching/preaching.

teaching in the epistle of Galatians. This is his second time teaching it since
eight years ago. He was telling me last night that his emphasis this time is
different from the last. Our church services are put on the "Internet

A LETTER FROM A "STREAMING" LISTENER
Dear Pastor Waite
As I’ve been listening to the Bible For
Today "streaming" services all day, and just finished
reading the "Bible For Today Update," I decided to write a
little note to you to say again how much I appreciate the
ministry God has blessed you to continue. I’d also like to
thank Him for Mrs. Waite and her faithful support of that
ministry. Much like Abraham with Sarah, and Adam with Eve,
it looks as though some pastors let their wives lead them
astray. Not so with you and Mrs. Waite. May God bless you
both! Remembering you in prayer.
For some reason, some Christians look with disdain upon a
house church such as ours.
Yet, there are "house churches"
all over the world --China, India, etc. We serve the Lord’s Supper regularly
every month, we baptize, we ordain, we have an offering box, etc. I don’t know
what these other house churches do. Yes, there are some of us who want to
"downsize" our fellowship to "bite size" for better spiritual
nourishment. Can you blame us? We just want something "different" and
healthier for our souls than new songs, new bibles, jokes & sloppy clothes.

"The Closed Door"
by Gertrude Sanborn
The closed door
Seemed good and full of store;
Yet better far
That He should bar
each door that seemed so free and due,
Lest we go boldly walking thru
And find there only tears
Far greater than our present fears.
The Lion Hath Roared, Who Will Not Fear? Amos 3:8
(CONTINUED) by Yvonne S. Waite
HE WALKS AMONG US, LURKING & STALKING
The Roaring Lion stalks us right here where you and I
live ( 1 Peter 5:8). He walks among us as we are happy, doing our daily tasks,
and thinking all is well in our world. He could be lurking in another room of
your house without your knowledge. He could be out in the play yard with the
children. He could be at your husband’s work or at the grocery store. He could
be comforting you on your sick-bed. He could be in the church choir or be
someone on the missionary committee. That wise and unscrupulous "animal" is
walking about "SEEKING whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). That is his
full-time job. He is watching for some weakness of character, some flaw, some
look of the eye, some unseemly word. It is scary. Mother Eve knew this "up-front
and personal." Suffering Job felt the Devil’s wrath in despair. Missionary Paul
had an encounter that was so awful that he was left with a "thorn in the
flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7). It must have been a horrible struggle. He wrote
to his friend, Pastor Timothy, "I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion"
(2 Timothy 4:17). I have seen his work up-close, too, haven’t you?
A LION IN YOUR HOUSE
The other day on the news, I heard of some wild cat that got
loose from its cage and walked into a house close-by. The animal was trapped in
those rooms. It was frantic. It wanted out! Did the owner of the house stay
within its walls watching? Did he try to cozy up to the cat? Did he try to
persuade the visitor by words or kindness? Did he give him a cup of tea? No. The
owner got out of the house as quickly as he could. He fled in fear. Soon, I
heard, the frightened animal jumped out a window, breaking it in pieces, and ran
out in the street, wild with rage, until stopped. What a relief to the
homeowner. This frightful pouncing-devil was gone.
WE THINK THAT WE ARE IN CONTROL
Isn’t that how we should act when we detect the presence of
Satan in our midst? Yet we don’t always run out of the place of danger. We don’t
recognize the situation as peril. We think we are in control. We think we can
help. Sometimes we are so blinded by the beauty of the beast that we cozy-up to
it. We love it, enjoying the euphoria of the evil situation--all the while
denying it is evil. Before we know it, the "lion" has pounced on us. We
are caught within its paws. It is only afterwards that we realize that we had
experienced the "wiles" of the Devil first-hand. The enemy had struck and
we were caught red-handed in sin! (To be continued)
FORGIVENESS, THE AMISH, & YOU
In closing I want to tell you about my Just For Women radio
tape called, "FORGIVENESS, THE AMISH, & YOU."
Weren’t we all touched to the
core at the senseless murders in schools since I wrote you last? There have been
116 shooting deaths since Columbine. The six little girls in Lancaster County
were killed by a mad, sex-craving father of three daughters himself. Immediately
after the massacre, we learned how the people "forgave" the assailant.
The shocked Amish used a verse from the "Sermon on the Mount" for this
belief (Matthew 6:14-15). It seems as if they believe their
forgiveness from God depends upon their forgiveness of others. I was so
burdened for this unbiblical concept, that I did four programs on the subject.
I did not want untaught Christian women deceived. Perhaps you’ll want to
hear this Just For Women
tape, too. Ask for #JFW-90 @ $4.00 +
$1.00 S&H.
"But the God of all grace,
Who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
After that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish, strengthen, settle you." (I Peter 5:10)
Under God’s Wise Care,
Yvonne S. Waite
P.S. For you who are following my trivia reports, "Views
from my office windows" you’ll be interested to
learn that the neighbor’s beautiful pool had much leaf activity for awhile, but
now it is covered for winter. The tall basketball contraption, between ours &
another neighbor’s driveway keeps falling down in the wind--no cars hit so far.
The house remodeling across the street is still in full bloom with trucks of all
descriptions coming and going. It will be nice when finished. Oh--the Lutherans
have dismissed their woman preacher!
