TODAY, AS I WRITE THIS UPDATE TO YOU, IT IS MEMORIAL DAY, I WATCHED SOME OF THE CEREMONY AT THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER THIS MORNING. I am always touched by the memory of all those men and women who have given their lives for my freedom--and yours, too. The general who spoke this morning said that military men are not without fear. Yes, they can be afraid. But they do not run. They stay and fight the war. Why? It's true, they not only do not want to be cowards; but also, they have the spirit and memory of the United States of America‘s brave military forces behind them. They are part of the USA defense that does its job and doesn't run. It reminded me of General MacArthur's speech on "DUTY, HONOR, AND COUNTRY."

THEN PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH SPOKE. HE TOLD OF THE FALLEN MEN WHOSE BODIES ARE BURIED BENEATH HIS FEET & BEFORE HIS EYES. I, too, reflected on all those Arlington whitewashed tombstones. They silently send their message to us. The President kept saying "in this place where valor sleeps." I could not help but think of the valiant who have died for such a cause as FREEDOM. I AM GRATEFUL!

Fanny Crosby at Stony Brook WE WERE BARELY HOME FROM HEATHROW AIRPORT IN LONDON, WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR MY HUSBAND AND ME TO MOTOR UP TO NEW YORK STATE & LONG ISLAND. I had been invited to do THE TRIBUTE TO FANNY CROSBY on Thursday, April 27, for "college days" at THE INTERNATIONAL BIBLE COLLEGE at STONY BROOK. I had not done "Fanny" for awhile. But it came back to me. Many people came to me afterward saying it was a blessing. I thank God that He is still using this presentation for His Glory. It certainly is not for mine. I would love to come to your church for some special occasion to present Fanny Crosby's life & gospel songs. It is a shame that today many people have never heard of her, not alone her words.

"BIBLE VERSIONS: WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?" MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE STUDENTS AT THEIR CHAPEL SERVICE FRIDAY MORNING, April 28. His topic was "BIBLE VERSIONS: WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?" [BFT #3272 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H] There were about forty students there. I think I was told that there are 80 students altogether--that includes day and night students, as well as students at the Brooklyn campus. The college is about four or five years old. We had met DR. BRUCE MILLER, the president of INTERNATIONAL, previously. I was just as impressed with his vision & leadership ability at Stony Brook as I was when we did "Fanny Crosby" and Dr. Waite lectured on the defense of the KJB for Dr. Miller at another Bible College in Pennsylvania. I like the whole look and feeling of that INTERNATIONAL BIBLE COLLEGE located at 1266 N. Country Road, Stony Brook, New York 11796 Phone: 631-689-6770. But then, my son says that is what I say about all the schools.

NEW & OLD FRIENDS WHILE THERE, WE MET STUDENT JEREMY HARRELL FROM NORTH CAROLINA. He helped us with the book table and was absolutely dumbfounded when he realized that Dr. Waite published the DEFINED KING JAMES BIBLE [BFT #3000 @ Large print Leather $40+$7 S&H; $35+$6 S&H Medium print Leather. BY THE WAY, WE ARE EXPECTING A TRUCK LOAD OF Defined King James Bibles TO BE DELIVERED THE FIRST PART OF THIS MONTH. ALSO, WE MET BETH HIBBARD, a daughter of some people we know. THEN WE SAW SUSANNE PETERMAN, TOO. She gave me a vase of beautiful flowers. For years, my husband used to have her and her brothers in his classes at BAPTIST BIBLE INSTITUTE out of CHRIST INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHURCH in the Philadelphia's inner city.

A TWO-PART MINISTRY THE COLLEGE IS PART OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL BAPTIST CHURCH LOCATED IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. The Pastor, Dr. JOHN J. MORGAN has a burden for New York state and the many international people he and his church people meet every day. When the buildings that used to house STONY BROOK SCHOOL FOR GIRLS, were up for sale, Pastor Morgan and his people bought up the opportunity. The buildings are being refurbished and brought back to their original beauty. The gymnasium floor has been resurfaced. It is there that the daily chapel meets and the weekly Sunday & mid-week services are held. Presently there are about two hundred people who attend the church in Stony Brook. I don't remember if I was told how many attend the "mother" church in Brooklyn. It must be a large congregation. Pastor Morgan drives back and forth from the two campuses to preach & pastor his people. Of course, he has help from assistants; but, he is the main pastor. The first time I shook hands with Pastor Morgan, I felt his energy. This reminded me of one of our former pastors, CARL ELGENA, with his enthusiasm and vision. Such men are few and far between.

THE RENO/FREEMAN WEDDING LAST WEEKEND DR. WAITE & I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING "HONORARY" GRANDPARENTS TO MARK RENO AT HIS WEDDING. I'm not sure why we were chosen but I have a sneaking suspicion. I don't think it was only because both sets of his grandparents had died, or because we see him at the DEAN BURGON SOCIETY. I THINK IT WAS BECAUSE MY HUSBAND INTRODUCED MARK TO RACHEL TWO YEARS AGO. It was then that Dr. Waite told Mark about Rachel. The rest was up to Mark. I would say that Mark did a good job of introducing himself. They were married on Saturday, May 27, and we--with a couple hundred others--were there to witness their vows. I wish I had room in the UPDATE to tell you what a unique wedding it was. Both fathers (of the bride & of the groom) are ministers. Both had an opportunity to publicly explain marriage to the couple. The father, PASTOR PAUL RENO spoke to them on the main floor in front of the church in front of the platform. Then PASTOR GARY FREEMAN had his turn with the bride and groom on the platform. Most unusual was the instruction to the couple concerning divorce. It was not to happen. Marriage is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ and the believer. Once a person receives Jesus Christ as Saviour, the relationship cannot be broken. So it is with marriage. BUT if the couple even THINKS of divorcing, they must go to all of us who witnessed their wedding and give explanation why they want such an unscriptural division in their lives. ‘TIS ALL THE ROOM I HAVE.
