FAULT- FINDING COMES EASY 

How easy to write those words down on a sheet of paper.  How easy to agree and say “yes”!  But when something goes wrong, our fault-finding and complaining-gene sets in, doesn’t it?   Or am I the only one with this problem?   For some reason, the preacher’s family is the focal point of such criticism.  Why not pick on them!  If it isn’t Pastor, it has to be his wife who is not perfect.  (If she doesn’t know it, you certainly will tell her.)  Or it is the preacher’s kids?  Somehow we don’t notice those children sitting in our own family pew.  That poor wife and children have to be neglected while the pastor takes care of you.  You know the story.  What would we do if we didn’t have roast preacher for our Sunday meal?

WHAT’S THAT BIG BEAM DOING IN MY EYE?

Then we have our own home.  I find it easier to criticize my husband than to criticize myself.  I could have a beam as big as a house in my eye, but his little faults trip me to complain like a burglar alarm in a bank building.  I am sorry--but not sorry enough not to do it again.  What about you?  I find myself doing this when I am tired.  The other night I was going full-speed ahead.  My poor husband!  Then the next morning I went to the doctor and there I was sick again with my usual infection.  It had been a few months since its return, and I forgot the symptoms--one of them is acting like a crazy- woman--ha!   So now I am on medicine and hope to be well, Lord willing, for a big MARCH MONTH of “awayness.”

A SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE HOME CHURCH

Before beginning this page, I took a few minutes off for lunch. Had to force myself to eat!  We have such a busy afternoon.  My husband is making the bulletin & preparing for preaching in EPHESIANS tomorrow.  I am sick!   We have to go to a store and buy clothes for someone in a care center.  This was completely unexpected.  All of a SUDDEN--a phone call came.  We have to drive to Paulsboro about twenty-five minutes or so from here.  I would rather be in bed! 

My husband has a million things to do for Sunday--you know our Bible For Today Baptist Church is in our home.  I don’t want to miss my JUST FOR WOMEN radio program on the internet from Tennessee, nor Dr. Waite’s two radio programs either--one on the Defense of the King James Bible, and the other one our home-church program.  You can tune in each Saturday on the Internet ().  Once you get on this site, go to the LEFT of the screen and click on the words, LISTEN ONLINE.  Pull this page down to WNQM‑-Nashville, TN.  Then click on the CENTER choice, Windows Media Player (or something else that works.)   Our programs run from 4:15 through 6:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time.     You can order these for car-listening or home--ask!--DVD or audio tapes--specify which broadcasts.  They are food for thought!

Just now I answered the door bell.  (My husband was in the basement running off the church bulletins.)   It was the roof man.  We have a leak in the roof over the BFT office.  Not much more can happen in one day--but I’m not counting on it.  This is the life of a pastor & wife.  So be kind!

THE SAD SAGA OF ANNA NICOLE SMITH

Was I the only one who was glued to the ANNA NICOLE SMITH court hearing in Florida?  (Of course, I was ill and had plenty of falling-asleep-television time.)  JUDGE LARRY SELDLIN tearfully read his decision on Thursday--something some of us thought he could have done the first day.   He put all of us in spellbound agony watching the proceedings.  (It was good television--riveted entertainment.)  The only problem was--it was real life! 

DEBATING OVER A DECOMPOSING BODY

This poor sinner of a woman--as far as we know, an unrepentant sinner--from all appearances, lived a life of a high-priced, call-girl.  Everyone and his brother seemed to be claiming the possibility that he could be the father of the baby, DANNIELYNN, who was secluded down there in the Bahamas.  Even JAJA GABOR’S husband said he could be the father.  One rich man from Virginia, whom the deceased wanted to claim the parentage, knew for sure he couldn’t possibly be the father; for, we were told, he had a vasectomy years ago--information we did not need to know.  Three factions wanted the dead, decomposing body. They were the mother, VIRJEE ARTHUR,  from Texas whom ANNA said she hated, the man, LARRY BIRKHEAD from California, who probably really could be the father, and HOWARD K. STERN, whose name is on the baby’s Bahama birth certificate, whom we were told carried Smith’s case of drugs with him at all times for her drug demands.  Often he also seemed to have a camera with him for any pictures he could take of her that could bring in money into their coffers.  DEATH IS NEVER PLEASANT--especially for the hell-bound unsaved.  Why does it have to be made more unpleasant with fighting over the burial place?

A JEALOUS DIAPERED ASTRONAUT DASHES

I thought we’d heard it all.  Prior to Smith’s sad end had not we been previously subject to the diapered, jealous astronaut driving from one end of the country to the other--a lover in despair?  Her  name was LISA NOWAK.  It seemed that this “dashing” woman’s  goal was to “get” the “other” woman.  Was it a real or imagined triangle with a fellow-male-astronaut?  Will we ever know?  Talk about “love” going awry!  What an account for her children to read about!  One thing it did for the rest of us was to make us  realize that there is no shame in wearing “Depends.”  If an astronaut can wear them, why can’t we?

BRITNEY SPEARS BALD AND BRAWLING

Then during & in between the ANNA NICOLE happenings and after THE DIAPER CHASE, we were subject to the sight of BALD BRITNEY SPEARS hacking an SUV with an umbrella.  Prior to that episode, she had entered & left a rehabilitation drug & alcohol program at least two or three times the same week, abandoning her two babies in the care of nannies--and eventually with her estranged husband and mother.  The poor lost young woman!  She has everything money can buy but in reality has nothing!    How she needs the Saviour!  All that fame and fortune--and she is no better off than any other distraught, depressed mother.  Having two babies in a row is no easy task.   I had four in a row myself.  I know.  I often cried--but I didn’t go off partying, drinking, losing my underwear, or divorcing my husband.  Such despair should be kept under the roof!

Soon I looked out another window and guess what?  A huge tractor-trailor was parked in front of our house!   It seemed to take up the whole street there on Dill Avenue.  (We live on the corner of Park and Dill Avenues.)  Just as I was grabbing my camera, the phone rang.  I wanted to get a picture of the huge truck to send a picture to Dr. H. DR. BRUCE METZGER DIED & BURIED IN UNBELIEF?

WILL BART EHRMAN FILL HIS CHAIR?

Our own DR. KIRK DiVIETRO (DBS executive committee member) received an handwritten letter from Metzger in 1994 which said,

“We took as our base at the beginning of the text of Westcott and Hort (1881) and introduced changes as seemed necessary on the basis of MSS evidence.”

I do not know where Dr. Metzger is buried but I am sure it is not with those spurious bones in the Talpiot Tomb in Jerusalem.  But for sure, he was buried with his unbelief living on in the hearts and minds of his students.  THE APOSTLE JAMES WROTE “My brethren, be not many masters (teachers), knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation!”  (James 3:1)  [Of course JAMES’ BONES  were “discovered” and then rejected.  Was that last year?] 

Now let’s get back to the corrupting body of ANNA NICHOLE SMITH. By the time you read this, she may be entombed next to  her son or in Texas in the family plot.  It is sad.  She is just as lost in her sin as people like BART EHRMAN.  According to the Scripture, Ehrman will receive the greater condemnation, for he has had more light.  I am not the judge of him or Dr. Metzger--or Anna Smith, either.   I just read my Bible.

All this wrangling where people are to be buried is something else again.  Take the “king of soul”--JAMES BROWN--down there in Akin, Georgia.  He’s been dead in his gold coffin for weeks.  His family is another one that is wrangling over the burial plot.  I guess it IS all about money.   I think the relatives are settling down to Brown’s final resting place.  I know someone who is a television journalist who interviewed him before his death.  This person said that the man was “crazy and on drugs.”  I guess to be famous now, one has to be wacked out of  his mind, run around half-naked, and live intimately with at least five people of any sex.

Another young man who died at age nineteen or twenty is not allowed to “rest in peace” either.  Even though those who loved him and were his mentors quickly hid him away in a small tomb in the sands of Egypt, he was discovered.  Since then, his most private, personal, precious treasures are being displayed all over the world.  We saw him and his “gold” at the museum there in Egypt when Dr. Waite and I visited in the ’80's.   Right now anyone who pays the money can go over to the FRANKLIN INSTITUTE in Philadelphia and stare at the artifacts to one’s heart’s content.  I was one of them. I walked around the museum with a thing in my ear listening to some famous voice tell me all about a dead man the same age as the late Danny Smith, ANNA NICHOLE’S fallen son. 

There seemed to be a question who TUTANKHAMUN’S mother was. How did TUT’s mother react?  Just because she was in Egypt and lived hundreds of years ago, was her grief any less than those who suffer loss today?   I remember Jacob’s tears in Genesis when he was told that his Son Joseph was killed by wild beasts.  Of course, it was a lie but lies can be believed when told with conviction.   Probably KING TUT’S mother was a lesser wife of his father, the ruler who turned Egypt to a monotheistic nation. But that conversion was not to the True God of Israel!  At the time, all had to bow to the Sun “god” and woe be to those who didn’t!   Later during his brief reign, TUT reversed the religious fever of the country to the old ways--which, of course, were just as heathen and corrupt as his father’s religion.  I remember the grief my mother had when her twenty-year-old daughter, my sister Audrey, died a painful, cancerous death about fifty-five years ago.

THE PIERCING PAIN OF THE DEATH OF A CHILD

HOW DID KING TUT DIE?

There has been much conjecture how KING TUT died.  Only in the very recent years was a CT-Scan done on his battered body  (March, 2005).  It had been previously thought that a blow to the head had killed him; but now they feel the hole was there when his brains were sucked out during embalming.  A friend of mine said in those days the brains were thrown out for they were thought to have no more use after death.  Other organs were included in the tombs, such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.  They were weighed and put in separate urns with golden masks of the deceased sealing the openings.  Now from the more modern CT-Scans of the mummified body, it is believed that TUTANKHAMUN injured his leg in a fall or in battle, it festered and took his life.  He probably suffered.  They say they know he was young because of his teeth.

KING TUT & JOSEPH WERE MUMMIFIED

From all that I can gather, his remains--though broken & divided, with his head separated from his torso, still lie in the many caskets and golden-masked sarcophagus in the original tomb that HOWARD CARTER discovered in November 26, 1922.  As weird as it sounds to me (and I may not be reading this correctly), every time “science” wants to view the mummy of Tut or take pictures of it, he is pulled out of his resting place--which has become  far from a “final resting place.”  His body was mummified like Joseph’s in the book of Genesis.  Only Joseph’s body was treated with respect.  Tut’s body has been pried from the resin that stuck his back to the golden container in which he lay.  After all, he lay there for a little less than 3,300 years.  His ugly remains have been pulled, and pushed, cut, and examined, as far as I’m concerned, with little to no respect.

REST IN PEACE

All the toys, trinkets, chariots, boats, etc. buried with him--his favorite things--have been taken from his body and the tomb, so you and I can be amazed at the glory of Egypt’s past.  After looking at it all, tiring myself out, and pondering the whole time at the museum, I wonder what it means when people say of the dead, “Rest in peace.”  That certainly doesn’t pertain to the boy king of Egypt  who began his reign at the age of nine over 3,000 years ago.

CREMATION--NO!~~LISTENING FOR THE SHOUT--YES!

My final word on the subject is this: At least all the above-mentioned people have not cremated their dead.  Even the Egyptians had more respect for the bodies of their loved ones than some of people today do for theirs.  All this talk about where to be buried makes me realize that we must plan for our “final expenses” (as the TV ad says) and the place for us to be laid at our death, or we will have absolutely no say in it after we are gone.   When my parents died, they had it all planned and paid for.  It made it much easier for me.  I guess I am at the age in life that I should seriously make some plans for the spot I want to be raised from when Jesus comes and calls for me with His mighty SHOUT!  That will be the day!--the GLAD DAY!   I AM READY, ARE YOU?
