THESE ARE PERILOUS TIMES!
CHRISTIANS MUST BE VIGILANT
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord,
nor of me his prisoner; But be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel
according to the power of God.

Dear friend of the BFT,
TEACHING IN NEW YORK AND INDIANA
Although I did not intend to write another BFT UPDATE so soon, I feel
that I must. WHY? Because we have gone so many places and done so many things
during the months of APRIL & MAY that I would have to write a book as big as
WAR & PEACE
if I wait another month to tell you all that DR. WAITE & I have been doing since
last I wrote. How is that for a long sentence? Since visiting with you last, we
have been in HORSEHEADS, NEW YORK, with PASTOR RADUCZ, as well as in THE KING
JAMES SEMINAR #9 at FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST COLLEGE, Chesterton, Indiana, with PASTOR
ROGER VOEGTLIN & staff.
WORLD WAR II’S MEMORIAL BRINGS
EMOTIONS
As I AM WRITING TO YOU DURING THIS MEMORIAL DAY SEASON (May 29, 2004), I AM
LISTENING TO C-SPAN AND ITS COVERAGE OF THE DEDICATION OF THE WORLD WAR II
MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON D.C. Some are calling it "a place of meditation." Tom
Brokaw is speaking. The monument is a magnificent tribute to the men of my
generation who left home and family to fight for the freedom of the United
States of America and the world. Over 50,000,000 human beings perished. They
died in homes, on battlefields, in oceans, and in prison camps. The USA
sacrificed over 400,000 brave sons & daughters. They died so you and I (among
other things) would be "free" to worship God according to our religious
convictions. Those heart beliefs, back in 1945, came to you and me from the
Words of God--mostly the King James Bible. You and I have religious freedom
because America cared! Even though I did not fight with guns ablaze, that war
was "my" war. I was in high school. I remember food stamps and sugar & gas
rationing. I met with other girls and women to wrap bandages for the wounded. We
had air raid practice and pulled our shades at night. It was from my Ohio high
school rooms that our boys left us. Our classmates put down their books and
basketballs to wear military garb and shoot guns. The price of freedom cannot be
measured in money or in words. It is measured in emotions--the emotions of
mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, fatherless children, and wounds. How can I
not shed tears as I think of those years?
REMEMBERING OTHER HEROES
As we learned today about our men of World War II, and as we heard of their
goodness and decency, as well as their human fears, we discovered that the troop
entertainer, BOB HOPE, would have been 101 today. Then, PRESIDENT JOHN F.
KENNEDY, if he had lived, would have been 87 today also. Read in the
PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER since writing this to you, that POET WALT WHITMAN,
whose tomb is a stone’s throw from us here in Collingswood, was born on May
31,1819. He was a nurse in the Civil War. Of course, I personally remember my
sister, AUDREY JUNE SANBORN, who was not in any shooting battle, but at the age
of twenty fought another war--a cancer war with Hodgkin’s Disease. She lost. My
husband fought that same MEDICAL war decades later. He survived. God was
good--but isn’t He always? Audrey would have been 72 on May 31st; but they don’t
have birthdays in Heaven, do they? How I miss her--I miss that kinship which
sisters have as adults. I never had that. If you do, appreciate it!
GOD’S CORNER WHERE YOU ARE
NOW TO GET BACK TO THE BIBLE FOR TODAY BUSINESS which we choose to think of
as GOD’S BUSINESS in this corner of the world. 900 PARK AVENUE & DILL is OUR
"corner" ! Have you ever been here to see us? WHAT IS THE CORNER OF YOUR
WORLD?
All THIS TALK ABOUT OUR "CORNER" OF THE WORLD, REMINDS ME OF A SONG I USED TO
SING IN MY CHILDHOOD. Remember INA DULEY OGDON’S words?
BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE
Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,
Do not wait to shed your light afar,
To the many duties ever near you now be true,
Brighten the corner where you are.
Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,
Let not narrow self your way debar,
Tho’ into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,
Brighten the corner where you are.
Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,
Here reflect the Bright and Morning Star,
Even from your humble hand the bread of life may feed,
Brighten the corner where you are.
CHORUS
Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar,
BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE.
KJB SEMINAR #9
AT FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST COLLEGE
CHESTERTON, INDIANA
It was the third time that Dr. Waite had spoken
concerning the defense of the King James Bible and its underlying texts at
FAIRHAVEN and his second KJB Seminar there (BFT #3186/1-14 @ $42.00+$5.00 S&H).
This time he was not one of the speakers at the Annual Bible /Conference. He
came after the Conference to teach at the KJB Seminar #9. This time his class
met (MAY 3-6, 2004) during regular college hours. There were fifteen students in
attendance. They were mostly students from the college, plus a man from
FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST CHURCH, and a BFT friend from Northern Ireland. The
Irish man learned about the seminar from our BFT WEB PAGE (www.biblefortoday.org)
and E-MAIL. The seminar is an intensive course! My husband taught
four days, seven hours a day. THE COLLEGE VIDEOTAPED THE TEACHING. WHEN IT IS
READY, WE WILL TELL YOU HOW YOU MAY ORDER. The videotaping was a student
project. They plan to merge the shots of Dr. Waite and his power point charts. I
wonder how it will turn out! I sat in on a couple classes and can testify that
it was a good class. The students meant business--and so did the teacher. They
were taking it for two semester hours of college credit!
TWO YEARS AGO, DR. WAITE WAS INVITED TO GIVE A KJB
SEMINAR AT FAIRHAVEN FOR THE FIRST TIME.
That class was immediately after the Bible Conference. All classes were
dismissed in 2000. For that reason, many of the faculty were able to attend.
It seemed to me, --if my memory serves me--that there were about 35 or more
students in that class. Many have ordered that teaching video (BFT #3069/1-13
@ $39.00+$5.00 S&H).
DOUBT CAST AGAINST THE WORDS OF
GOD
PASTOR ROGER VOEGTLIN & his staff appreciate my
husband’s teachings on the VERSION QUESTION.
I heard Dr. Voegtlin say this year from the pulpit, at the Thursday church
prayer meeting, how he had been absolutely bewildered by the DOUBT that
was put into his mind when he was a young Christian and a student at BOB JONES
UNIVERSITY.
THE DOUBT WAS WHAT WAS AND WHAT WASN’T THE WORDS OF GOD.
The DOUBT was so great in his mind that he was filled with questions. It was
then that he began to study the subject of Bible inspiration & preservation
himself. At first, he read books by the more rabid-writers. He did not want to
put himself in their camp!
Then--according to his testimony--he found Dr. D. A.
WAITE’s book DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE (BFT #1594-P @ $12.00 + $4.00
S&H).
Finally, Dr. Voegtlin had found a King James Bible position that was sensible,
sound, and Scriptural. I don’t know how many years ago that was, but my
husband’s book was first published in late 1992. It is now in its 9th printing.
BY INVITATION ONLY
One thing I appreciate during the seminars is
there is much extra time for questions and answers.
That is when the students can see how much my husband knows about the subject.
You’d appreciate such teaching, too, in your church or Bible college.
AS AN ASIDE: my husband does not invite himself to places
to speak. He waits to be invited.
He charges no fee--only asks that you pay his expenses and take a freewill
offering. I know preachers who say, "I’ll be in your area; could I speak to
your people?" I know men who do this. I suppose there is nothing really
wrong with it; but I can’t picture the Apostle Paul going up to a stranger and
asking that stranger if he (Paul) could speak in that person’s church. Then,
there are preachers and college officials who say, "When you are in the area,
we’d like you to speak to us, Dr. Waite." My wonderment is WHY would Dr.
Waite be in an area if he had no reason to be there? If you want him to speak to
your group, invite him!
ANSWERS & REASONS MUST BE OURS
With recently published books like
BIBLE PRESERVATION AND THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD by Sam Schnaiter & Ron
Tagliapietra of Bob Jones University’s faculty, as well as GOD’S WORD IN OUR
HANDS written by a compilation of various writers (most of whom are
connected with BJU), those of us who are convinced that the Words of the Textus
Receptus and Masoretic Hebrew underlying the King James Bible are the Preserved
Words of the original languages must have our reasons bolstered with proper
teaching.
The authors of those books try as hard as they can to destroy those who believe
in the Preservation of God’s Words.
DR. WAITE ANSWERS CRITICS ON RADIO
My husband is answering these author/critics in
his daily and weekly radio programs which you can hear on WOEL at 89.9 FM. That
station airs in the Maryland/Delaware/ Pennsylvania/New Jersey areas.
But, if you are not in that radio reception area, you can hear it at
www.MBCMIN.org/WOEL
as the station has streaming around the world. We appreciate PASTOR ALLEN
DICKERSON’s RADIO OUTREACH, DON’T YOU? He is celebrating fifty years of
preaching there in his church in Elkton, Maryland this month.
Dr. Waite’s Saturday program is 30 minutes in length and is aired at
3:00-3:30 p.m. Now, I realize that all of you can’t get on the
Internet--and even if you could, you may not be able to tune in at a particular
time. So I think you would be very interested in
subscribing to Dr. Waite’s thirty-minute radio program called THE BIBLE FOR
TODAY WEEKLY. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS
ASK TO BE A REGULAR MONTHLY SUBSCRIBER AND SEND US $5.00 A MONTH FOR FOUR
PROGRAMS.

EVENTUALLY, DR. WAITE HOPES TO WRITE ABOUT THE
ABOVE-MENTIONED BOOKS AFTER HE TALKS ABOUT THEM ON THE RADIO. Some of
the authors of those books mention or quote my husband by name or they infer
things about him, refuting his statements at times. It shows me that DR.
WAITE & THE DEAN BURGON SOCIETY is making an inroad into this Bible version
controversy. Now, if you want a recent article on the subject,
send $2.00 to us and we’ll send you the latest
DEAN BURGON SOCIETY NEWS. In the most recent issue, DR. THOMAS M. STROUSE,
the Dean of Emmanuel Baptist Theological Seminary (Newington, CT), has given a
CRITIQUE of Bible Preservation and the Providence of God book.
There are some other excellent articles in that paper. DR. GARY E.
LAMORE has written about ERASMUS of Rotterdam, A Good Son of the Roman
Catholic Church?? H. D. WILLIAMS, M.D., has an apologetic section on
The Mechanisms for the Preservation of the Words of God. DR. CLINTON
BRANINE of Heritage Baptist University wrote The Date Problem and the
Text, and JEBIDIAH PORTER
wrote about the Theological Significance in the Text Variance in Acts
9:31. I personally think you should subscribe to this paper. Dr. Williams is
the assistant editor and Dr. Waite, my husband, is the general editor. It is
only $5.00 a year and $10.00 in Canada. I don’t know what it is in foreign
countries.

MORE ABOUT OUR WEEK AT FAIRHAVEN
FLEW INTO CHICAGO’S MIDWAY AIRPORT
Because it is cheaper to fly on weekends, the
college arranged for us to be in Chesterton, Indiana, for the week-end prior to
the KJB SEMINAR.
DAN AMACOST, the Greek & Hebrew teacher and Registrar at Fairhaven
Baptist College, was in charge of us while there. He ticketed us on ATM
airlines. The flight went directly to MIDWAY airport on the other side of
CHICAGO. (I used to live in Chicago when at Bible School fifty-nine years ago. I
can’t believe it! Seems like I was another person--but, I guess, I am another
person. I certainly hope that the Lord has worked in my life to conform me more
to the image of His dear Son. Only He knows.) EVANGELIST RODNEY STEWART and
his daughter, CHRISTA, met us at the airport.
CHRISTA IS SIX YEARS OLD AND CHARMING. I am so
glad that the Lord brought her into my life. Every time I saw her, while at
FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST CHURCH & COLLEGE, she came over and hugged me or smiled her
beautiful smile. All we adults want from young people is a caring heart and a
truthful tongue.
Some folk only care about themselves and fail to reach out to
other persons. I have lost track of the times I’ve been in a church and no one
speaks to me. Even preacher’s and speaker’s wives are rude this way. Selfishness
abounds, doesn’t it?--not only with the little ones. Even with adults, it seems
to be, "Me, Me, Me."
PRAYER MEETING ON THURSDAY NIGHT
DR. WAITE’S SYNOPSIS OF "KJB SEMINAR #9" AVAILABLE
My husband gave a summary of his week of
teaching on Thursday night to the whole church. His talk was called KJB
SEMINAR #9--40-Minute SYNOPSIS! It was an excellent presentation. I was
proud of him. Ask for the audio tape, (BFT #3189 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H) and learn.
Fairhaven Baptist Church has its mid-week service on Thursdays.
The church has a huge auditorium and it looked well-full for the middle of the
week. Of course, not as full as the Sunday morning and the evening services. The
Sunday we were there, the BUS MINISTRY outdid itself with almost 2,000 BUS
RIDERS in attendance. There was a special visitation push on Saturday by the bus
captains and their crews. All that work really paid off! The goal of the bus
captains is to invite and bring people from surrounding areas so that when they
get saved, the families will want to come to church on their own.
Getting back to PRAYER MEETING--it is encouraging to
see so many folk caring & praying in the mid-week service. I remember
talking with a woman several years ago, who was a teacher in a growing church
where I attended. I assumed she went to prayer meeting for she was a teacher in
the Sunday School there. But no! She said, "I have other priorities!"
I was very surprised. She was inviting me to be a special speaker for her
children’s group--yet, she didn’t care enough for the church (or the Lord) to be
in prayer meeting with the people to pray for those to whom she ministered.
ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE ABSENT ONES IN YOUR CHURCH?

Thursday nights and participate, too. WE ARE LIVE FOR OUR MORNING
SERVICE (10:00--11:30 A.M., as well as our Bible discussion in Acts, Sundays at
1:30--2:30 P.M. also) THE REST OF THE DAYS WE HAVE TWENTY-FOUR HOUR
STREAMING OF BIBLE TEACHING FROM OUR CHURCH, taking 2 chapters, verse by verse
each day from Romans through Revelation. JOIN US!
When I was a child in Lagrange, Ohio, we had prayer meeting on
Thursday evenings, too. In those days, church always began at 8:00 P.M. or 7:30
P.M.--even on Sunday nights. But today with special TV programs and sports
events, people have to be home for them. Those were the days when mothers and
wives didn’t work outside the home and the farmers had to milk their cows before
coming to church. World War II changed all of that, didn’t it? BUT, we can’t
blame all of our indifference to prayer meeting on that event.
When we started our BIBLE FOR TODAY BAPTIST CHURCH, we continued the Thursday
night-time spot.
You see, we have had a Bible study in our home for over twenty-five years on
Thursday nights. How many people have walked into our house during these
years! WE SEEM TO BE LIKE A "WAY STATION." In times of "need," people with
"needs" walk in our door. We serve them in the name of the Lord. They stay
awhile. They leave us . We seldom hear from them again. We love them. Some
continue to love us. Some hate us. Some have gone on to be "with the Lord." This
has been a part of THE BIBLE FOR TODAY ministry here on the corner of Park and
Dill Avenues in Collingswood for thirty-nine years. A DELIGHTFUL REST FOR ME
Before I tell you about NEW YORK STATE, and our visit there, I must mention
the beautiful guest room in the FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST COLLEGE girls’ dorm! Every
morning, RA (a Cambodian friend and intern at the church) dropped our breakfast
off at our door. What service! My husband left for class every morning. I was
alone. I had nothing to do, while my husband was teaching, but to rest, read,
write, and pray. It was one of the best "rests" I can remember for a long time.
No TV! No ringing telephones! No delivery trucks! No workers and office rooms!
At meal time, I would walk from the girls’ dorm, by way of the beautifully
landscaped campus, for the school lunchroom. Each night, we were escorted to
local restaurants for food and fellowship with special people.
Every time I passed the large fish tank of exotic fish, I would chat with my
wet "friend" in the water tank. I know the women who passed me talking to the
fish must have thought I was a little "off." Maybe I was, but I am sure
that when I tapped on the glass and spoke to one of the fish, he would come to
my tapping finger and look at me as I said over and over again, "Hello,
hello, hello!" Whether it be true or not, I thought so. It kept me busy
anyhow. Before I left for the airplane, I called "my" fish over to me and took
his picture. He came. I snapped the shutter! I wonder if he misses me. He is
blue with an orange eye. Do you want to see his picture?
THE WAITES AT HORSEHEADS, NEW YORK
BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH "APRIL KJB BIBLE CONFERENCE"
MOTHER-DAUGHTER BANQUET & PREACHERS’ WIVES TALKS WITH PASTOR & MRS.
ALEX RADUCZ
I can’t tell you when I enjoyed being at church more than BIBLE
BAPTIST IN HORSEHEADS, NY (Rt. 14 at Wygant Rd. ZIP: 14845 [PHONE:
607-739-4535].) We flew there--a short flight. It only took one hour on a prop-
jet to get to nearby Elmira, NY, but going home only thirty minutes on a new jet
to Philadelphia. That was a plus! NO TRAFFIC TO MAKE ME NERVOUS. (Ever since
that car bumped into the passenger side, where I was sitting, as we were driving
to Joe S.’s graduation, I’ve been nervous in traffic.) I really enjoyed the
people in that church. My husband said that I liked the people there because
they liked me. Maybe that is true. I spoke twice --once to about seventy women
at the mother/daughter banquet and once to about ten women called "the pastors’
wives," even though all of them weren’t.
MORE DEFENSE OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE TEXTS
My husband spoke eight times at Pastor Raducz request from Saturday to
Monday evening. His theme was
DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE. He spoke to the church on Saturday night.
Then, on Sunday, he spoke in the Sunday School’s QUESTION & ANSWERS (BFT #3183/1
@ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H), the morning & afternoon services (BFT #3183/1-3 @ $9.00 +
$2.00 S&H). The church was packed. Maybe there were 300 there. I can’t recall if
it were 200 or 300 OR 250 (so much has happened since early April.) All I know
was their beautiful white pews were filled with happy, INTERESTED faces.
NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME LIKE JESUS
The singing was excellent. The two Raducz sisters
played the pianos. They do not read music, but they certainly can run
their fingers over the keys. Pastor asked me to sing so I sang one that daughter
Jennifer knew,
"I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus." At first I didn’ t
think I could find my note with her introduction on some modern-type keyboard.
"Oh, no!" I thought, "not one of these singing off-key songs again!"
BUT PRAISE THE LORD, I found the note and sang, "NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME
LIKE JESUS!" How very true. So often people are fickle and changeable. One
day they say how much I mean to them and the next day, they are tearing me up in
little pieces to their friends--BUT NOT JESUS!
A POT LUCK DINNER BETWEEN SERVICES
AFTER THE MORNING SERVICE AT BIBLE BAPTIST, IT IS
THE CUSTOM OF THE CHURCH TO HAVE A BIG POT LUCK DINNER.
There was so much food! Some of it was left over from the previous day
and the MOTHER/DAUGHTER BANQUET. We here at BIBLE FOR TODAY BAPTIST CHURCH eat
lunch between our morning and afternoon service also. ONLY, WE GO TO WENDY’S. I
think it is a good idea myself. We first observed this at Chinese churches where
my husband had ministered. They would have Chinese food brought in from some
restaurant or food cooked in their own kitchens (depending on the church). Then
everyone would buy the food and eat it in the church building. After fellowship,
they would have their Bible classes in various parts of the church. It was so
there in HORSEHEADS. The Sunday we were present, Dr. Waite
spoke to the bulk of the people in the main auditorium on the King James Bible
issues (BFT #3183/1-3 @ $9.00 + $2.00 S&H). You must hear these messages!
THE PASTOR’S MEETING ALL DAY MONDAY
On Monday, there was a New York pastor’s meeting. There was interest
in the KING JAMES BIBLE issues among the pastors and lay people who attended.
These men certainly devoured the book table. As I’ve told you before, we are
always happy for that. Of course, we like the proceeds--even though the prices
are very reduced; but mostly we enjoy seeing the INTEREST in the subject
of the Fundamentalists’ Errors on Bible Preservation
(BFT #3182/1-2 @ $6.00 + $2.00 S&H). Several people purchased DEFINED KING JAMES
BIBLES. By the way, we have a new supply 5,000 DKJB/ MEDIUM LEATHER (BFT #3000M
@ $35 + $5.00 S&H), as well as DKJB HARDBACKS (BFT #3000MHB @ $15.00 + $5.00
S&H). Some churches show absolutely no interest in the book table. This means
they have little to no interest in the subject. By the way, neither my husband
nor I keep any of the book table money. That goes, too, for the speaker’s
honorarium. But we do need funds for our ministry. We have books and other
publications to pay for and three on the staff who need weekly salaries. So feel
free to help us financially any time the Lord leads you to do so on a regular
monthly basis. THANK YOU.
AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO PASTOR’S WIVES
I spoke to the pastor’s wives and other women downstairs during one of
the men’s sessions. I called my talk, ENCOURAGEMENT TO PASTOR’S WIVES (BFT #3188
@ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H). This tape isn’t the best of quality because of the
recording conditions, but you can hear it. Some church women put their Pastor’s
wife on a pedestal and then knock her off with their tongues. They are surprised
when we are just as human as they are. Pastor’s wives bleed like other women.
They hurt, too. Often they have problems and heartaches that the church
people know nothing about--and sadder still, care nothing about. One of the
biggest conflicts against the preacher’s wife is the "cattiness" of the women in
the congregation. It is a shame! But that is how it is!
PASTOR’S WIVES ARE DIVORCING
I also spoke of two former pastors’ wives, whom I know, who have
divorced their husbands. That selfish act made it impossible for their
husbands to be preachers. Sometimes women are too selfish. Sometimes young
pastors (and older ones, too) do not know how to be husbands and are selfish.
The selfish, hurting pastor’s wife cannot wait for him to learn how to be a good
husband and father . She leaves! There can be so much conflict in the parsonage.
That’s why I wonder if the term ELDER means "elder" for older. There is so much
to learn in marriage! Men jump into the pulpit before they learn the ABC’s of
husbanding. Also, the way some congregations treat their pastors makes the wives
want to run away from it all. Congregations have much to answer to for the ill
treatment of the men they have called into their churches to pastor them. No one
is perfect--except you and me, of course. (Ha!)
ADVERSITIES MAKE US WHO WE ARE
The main reason I was in HORSEHEADS was at the invitation of MRS.
RADUCZ to speak at the Mother/Daughter Banquet. I looked forward to this
occasion but wondered what I would say. I’ve been talking about SARAH, Abraham’s
wife, on my radio program. Because it was fresh in my mind, I wanted to talk
about her and the people around her that influenced her life. Much to my
surprise, I began to speak of adversities that make us who we are. I told about
my mother and the adversities in her life. Each of her children had a handicap.
One of them was my retarded sister who was born birth-injured because of a
doctor’s blunder. In fact, the doctor was off drinking as mother agonized in
labor with Beverly. (I guess he was another one of those who thought he could
handle his drinking.) Then, my sister, Audrey, died of Hodgkin’s disease at
twenty. It was a horrible illness with no hope! I, at the age of three, went to
Rainbow Hospital for Crippled Children in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I stayed in
a hospital bed for three years. I won’t go into the whole thing but a particular
surgery was performed on my left hip that never was done on a human being before
(if I understand it correctly.) Praise the Lord it worked and I can walk
and bore five children normally. I had no intention of going on and on in my
devotional about such adversity; but immediately prior to my talk, the Raducz
sisters sang about a little boy who was buying a pair of shoes for his poor,
dying mother. He wanted her to look good when she met Jesus. The song touched my
heart, as well as all of those in the auditorium. Eventually, I talked about
Sarah who was not a stranger to adversity either. Maybe you would like to hear
the audio tape of that Mother/Daughter devotional. If so ask for BFT #3184 @
$4.00 + $1.00 S&H.
