THESE ARE PERILOUS TIMES!
CHRISTIANS MUST BE VIGILANT
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our
Lord, nor of me his prisoner; But be thou partaker of the afflictions of
the gospel according to the power of God.

24-HOUR STREAMING: www.BFTBC.ORG
Dear friends of the BFT,
TWO SPRINGS IN ONE YEAR
Even though it has been downright
windy and cold in South Jersey lately, according to the calendar, spring
had sprung! It’s the truth! The forsythia waved their golden arms every
time I glanced in their direction, and the daffodils bowed in yellow glory
each time I walked their path. Spring is an
amazing season. It is a time of new beginnings, of freshness, of green
grass, of pastel beauty & grandeur, and the birth of a second Waite great
grand child! For my husband and me, Spring came twice this year!
MARCH MEETINGS IN GRANITE FALLS, WASHINGTON
You see, Dr. Waite and I were in
GRANITE FALLS, WASHINGTON STATE from MARCH 15-19, 2004, with PASTOR AND
MRS. MARK HAMMOND at the GRANITE FALLS BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH on 509 South
Granite Avenue. I was delightfully surprised to
see SPRING before our eyes. You see, it seemed to be still winter in cold
New Jersey. It was there in March, 2004, in Washington State, that the
forsythia danced first for us under that blue Western sky. BUT that wasn’t
all! There were scores and scores of flowering plum trees displaying pink
blossoms for our amazement The pansies smiled in their friendly clusters,
and the daffodils proudly gathered in clumps waiting for the friendly
tulips to pop out in colorful array. Even though it was a bit chilly &
misty, I couldn’t get over the beauty! Each day, as we drove from our Best
Western motel in Tulalip to tiny Granite Falls in Snohomish County, we
gloried in the splash of fushia/pink trees lining our roadway. What a
privilege to be in Washington State again!
GRANITE FALLS IS A SMALL TOWN. It
covers a land area of 1.7 miles and has a population of 2,347. Pastor
Hammond has a burden for the souls of its citizens whose average age is
thirty. To purchase a house in GRANITE FALLS, be
prepared to invest $152,100 for a small dwelling.
We were told personally that GRANITE FALLS
IS THE LEADING MANUFACTURER OF CRYSTAL METHADONE in the area, if not in
the country. So, behind many doors of that tiny
town and up on the hills & mountains are substances which are made,
coveted, and purchased by those in and about Granite Falls who are into
the drug scene. Yes, that peaceful village has an underbelly of sin. BUT
IS GRANITE FALLS ANY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CITIES AND TOWNS WHERE YOU AND I
LIVE?
THE TUG OF GOD
When Pastor Hammond felt the tug of God upon his heart to be "full
time," he quit his employment as a manager of a paint store, and took a
brush in hand.
INSTEAD OF SELLING PAINT, HE
BEGAN TO PAINT. This was his "TENT MAKING" job in order to support his
family of a wife and four children. They set up housekeeping in a small
house on the corner of a busy street. When he is not canvassing the town
with tracts and doorknob messages, preaching, or painting, he is
remodeling his home. When we were there the project was to enlarge the
pantry.
Dr. Waite & I enjoyed two meals
in the Hammond home, got acquainted with the children, saw their home
school room (for the older son and daughter),
and played with the little ones (two foster
children soon to be adopted) who
were under two years of age. What a job! I must
say I have not seen anywhere any better behaved toddlers.
Pastor Hammond had been a foster child
himself as a teenager. Such an experience, along with other happenings in
his life, had given him a tender heart for such children.
In fact, the pastor told us of his boyhood, which I won’t
go into it here with you, as it is very private; but he told us something
very incisive. When he and his wife had their first birth-child, he said
to her that even though his mother had married two men who were his
"fathers," he had never had a good "father" example--, so he did not know
how to be a father. But one thing he did know was he did not want
to be like the men in his life who had wronged him. "Tell me," he
said to his wife, "If I am doing something wrong."
DR. WAITE TEACHES THE SUPERIORITY OF THE KJB
My husband preached five
week-nights at GRANITE FALLS BIBLE CHURCH. The congregation meets in a
rented, defunct Seventh Day Adventist church building.
It is a dear building with pews, and carpet, an organ, a piano, as well as
a pulpit, etc--but NO piano player. There are two large service rooms and
a nursery--plenty of room for a fledgling congregation. The people who
attended were interested in the textual subject. My husband used his
power-point projector and computer with skill, teaching the textual truth
concerning the King James Bible’s superiority in its text, translation,
technique, and theology. I wish you
could have been there, but the tapes are the next best thing.
Do you know which point of the four "SUPERIORITIES" really
hits home? You’re right--It is the THEOLOGY.
ORDER TODAY THE FIVE GRANITE FALLS AUDIO CASSETTE MESSAGES ON
THE FOUR SUPERIORITIES OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE today (BFT
#3179/1-3 @ $9.00+ $2.00 S&H).
A QUOTE FROM DEFENDING THE KJB ON THEOLOGY
LET ME QUOTE CONCERNING "DOCTRINAL
ERROR" WRITTEN ABOUT IN THE BOOK DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE
by D. A. WAITE. HERE IS ONE OF THE 158 VERSES QUOTED WHERE THERE ARE
DOCTRINAL CHANGES FOUND IN OTHER VERSIONS
(BFT #1594-P @ $12.00 + $3.00 S&H).
"I John 4:3: ‘and every spirit that confesseth not that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of
God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have
heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the
world.’
The italicized portion is ELIMINATED in the Critical
Greek text and English versions based upon it. Leaving out ‘"Christ
is come in the flesh’ is a denial of His incarnation. This is
certainly a matter of doctrine and theology. At this point, this
Greek text and these English versions are theologically deficient,
whereas the Textus Receptus and the KING JAMES BIBLE are
theologically superior." (PAGE 159-16O)
CHURCH PLANTING AT AGE SEVENTY-THREE
Because I came to Washington state
with a cough, I did not go with my husband on Sunday morning to FAITH
BAPTIST CHURCH in EVERETT, WASHINGTON. I thought I’d rest to adjust to the
time change. There is a three-hour difference. PASTOR DON COLLINS HAD
STARTED A BABY CHURCH IN A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FACILITY THERE. Dr. Waite
spoke on DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE but forgot to turn his tape
recorder on; so I can’t offer it to you.
Afterwards, the two pastors (my husband and Pastor "C") came to the motel
there in Tulalip so I could eat Sunday dinner with them and some of the
church members in a restaurant. This gathering was interesting to me for
several reasons. PASTOR COLLINS is a
seasoned HOME MISSIONARY. In his early years of church planting, he told
us that he was supported by TABERNACLE BAPTIST CHURCH IN GREENVILLE, SOUTH
CAROLINA, when the late HAROLD SIGHTLER was the pastor.
Our ears pricked up for both my husband and I have radio
programs on that church’s radio station. We appreciated the church, the
pastor, and the station very much. You, too, can hear us on
www.tabernacleministries.org several times a
week.
WHY DO SEASONED PASTORS RETIRE?
ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT ABOUT
PASTOR COLLINS IS HE IS SEVENTY-THREE AND STARTING A CHURCH! Sometimes
Christians want to put "elders" out to pasture and think they should be
home in their rocking chair or walking the Florida beaches early in the
morning instead of ministering the Word of God in their corner of the
world. I’m afraid many Christians have pigeonholed mature ministers as
"retired" or just "pulpit suppliers" or "just for special meetings"
instead of viewing them as available, resident pastors.
Sometimes I fear this is the "retired" pastor’s fault! I
agree, the ministry can be very tiring. It’s not so much because of the
preaching but because of some of the people as well. Excuse my frankness.
Church people become obsessed with instructing the pastor how to act,
speak, dress, sing, etc. And, if they can’t find a problem with the
pastor, they’ll turn on his wife and grind her into mince meat. All of
this wears down a pastor/man. No wonder, he looks forward to early
retirement or wants to teach in a Christian college where he can tell
other men how to be pastors and escape the tread mill.
WHAT DOES "ELDER" MEAN?
In the Bible, "pastors" are also
called "bishops" and "elders." I’m coming to feel that "elder" means
exactly what it says--"ELDER." Now, I’m not
trying to put down young preachers. My husband was once a young pastor.
After all--Timothy in the New Testament was a "young" pastor. But wasn’t’
he in his forties? I remember a sermon years ago that estimated that
Timothy was about forty. I don’t know how that preacher knew, but it
sounded good to me. Without young men, we’d have no "purpose driven
churches" no "Rick Warrens," no "worship leaders," or no church "rock
bands." I say that with "tongue in cheek"! But as I’ve matured, I’ve
watched some wonderful young pastors hit the dust--out of the ministry,
divorced, depressed, or hopelessly discouraged, I’m wondering if it is
because of their youth. Youth has much going for it but it has much to
learn. But then, we oldsters have much to learn also.
HOW DID THE APOSTLE PAUL MINISTER?
I wish I had the strength I used
to have. If I did, I’d be out putting literature
into every house in Collingswood. But I don’t have the strength or
endurance. Yet, maybe it isn’t necessary to put literature in every house
in your town or my town. Did the Apostle Paul do that? I’m not against it.
In fact I’m for it. I’m just pondering. Could it be that we are rushing
our young men into the pulpit before they have had a chance to mature
spiritually? before they know what raising children is all about? before
they know how to lead as husbands and not drive their wives out of the
home with demands? I’m just asking. Could it be also that we are pushing
good, experienced, "elder" preachers out of our churches’ pulpits because
we want the latest thing on the platform--the latest church-growth
methods, the latest look in dress, the latest Christian jargon--and a huge
attendance to bring in a huge offering to cover the huge church budget? I
really don’t know the answer to all of this--just wondering. How do you
feel?
DR. WAITE AT EVERGREEN BAPTIST CHURCH
That Sunday evening in Washington
state, I did go with my husband when he presented the SUPERIORITY OF THE
KING JAMES BIBLE to the EVERGREEN BAPTIST CHURCH (BFT #3180 @ $4.00 +
$1.00 S&H). The church is situated in a unique building which is connected
to the rear of a super market. I forget the name
of that market--sorry. I have never seen such an arrangement before.
Indeed when I entered the building, it looked like a church and not like
it was housed in the back end of a super market. The music was good. One
reason was the pianist. She was the pastor’s wife and very talented at the
piano. The church was pastored by Rev. Gary Jayne. After the service the
Jaynes and their teen children took us to a Thai restaurant. In fact, the
owners stayed open longer than usual just to have us be there. It was
good! He, his family, and his people were very friendly.
GOOD BOOK TABLE RESPONSE
They showed a keen interest in
the book table. In fact, all three churches we were in purchased books. We
like this for two reasons. One is the proceeds from the books go directly
into the Bible For Today ministry. We do no keep a penny of it.
THANKS FOR HELPING THE BFT MINISTRIES
WE ALWAYS HAVE A FINANCIAL NEED
OUR BIBLE FOR TODAY MINISTRIES
ALWAYS NEEDS FUNDS TO PAY OUR STAFF AND PRINT BOOKS, ETC. That is why we
appreciate you so much for you have contributed to our work. Thank you.
Another reason is a good book table response means the people are
interested in the subject. Several
people purchased THE DEFINED KING JAMES BIBLE
while there. Do you have a copy? (BFT
#3000 @ $40.00 LARGE LEATHER; $35.00 MEDIUM LEATHER; $20 LARGE HARDBACK;
$15 MEDIUM HARDBACK + $6.00 S&H each). WE ARE
EXPECTING ANOTHER SHIPMENT OF MEDIUM LEATHER and HARDBACK DEFINED KING
JAMES BIBLES IN MAY.
THE TULALIP TRIBES
Are you curious about Tulalip? Our motel was on the TULALIP INDIAN
GROUNDS. The concessions, motels, restaurants, fast food places, all rent
the land from the Tulalip Tribes.
THEN THE
BUSINESS PEOPLE BUILD ON THAT LAND.
` We had an interesting talk with
one of the native American girls at Arby’s. She
was a customer like we were--all excited because she was "with child."
(Not married, of course.) Somehow now-a-days, not to be married to the
father of the baby is in style. It seems like I know more unmarried
mothers than married ones. I often ask, "Are you going to marry the
father." And usually the answer is, "We’re thinking about it."
OR "When we can afford it."
The tribe’s business enterprises are
casino/bingo, land leasing, and cablevision. The
TULALIP RESERVATION is in the mid-Puget Sound area, near the city of
MARYSVILLE, Washington, the Snohomish River, and Puget Sound, having a
land base of 22,000 acres, over 50% of which is in Federal Trust Status.
It was established by the Point Elliott Treaty of January 22, 1855 and
enlarged by executive order of December 23, 1873. It provides a permanent
home for the SNOHOMISH, SNOQUALMIE, SKAGIT, SUIATTLE, SAMISH, and
STILLAGUAMISH tribes and allied bands living in the region.
THE "DOCTORED" NEW TESTAMENT
If you have not seen THE "DOCTORED" NEW
TESTAMENT, you’ve really missed an excellent work which was researched
and written by our oldest son, who authored the DEFINED KING JAMES
BIBLE footnotes. You’ve heard of Scriveners’ Annotated Greek New
Testament (BFT #1670 @ $35.00 Hardback; $45.00 Leather + $4.00 S&H)
with the footnotes from the actual WESTCOTT/HORT Greek text. D. A. Waite,
Jr. has put the English Bible where the Greek was and he has transcribed
the footnotes showing us how and when and where the
critical text changes the Greek Words. I like to take this New Testament
to church with me and see how the Doctors Westcott and Hort changed
things. I like to do my daily devotions with this new work to help me
understand what a good Bible is our Authorized Version. ASK FOR The The
DOCTORED New Testament (#BFT3138 @ $25.00 + $4.00 S&H.)
"But this New Testament was ‘doctored’ in
another, more significant way. Previous revisions of the traditional
English New Testament primarily focused on improving the English text
and not on changing its Greek Basis. But with the 1881 English Revised
Version, a new wind began to blow. Doctors Westcott and Hort (together
with the majority of the Revisions Committee) made thousands of New
Testament changes based on their new Greek Testament. This new Greek
Testament had been significantly ‘doctored’ with thousands of ‘various
readings’ from their two favorite Greek manuscripts --Codex Vaticanus
(B) and Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph)." (page iii of the Preface).
An Interesting Footnote
It is interesting to notice that the footnote
at the bottom of page iii of the Preface to THE DOCTORED NEW TESTAMENT
reads: "These change were made over the repeated objections of
Dr. Scrivener."
"COME OVER FOR LUNCH"
AFTER WE GOT SITUATED IN OUR
MOTEL ON MONDAY, I REMEMBERED SOME FRIENDS THAT WE KNEW IN WASHINGTON
STATE. So, I called home to the BFT office and
asked Pastor Dan Waite to look up some phone numbers for me. Then I called
three people, hoping we could get together and visit--that is if we were
anywhere near them. I had no idea where they lived, how far they were from
Marysville, or where I was for that matter. (I just get on the plane and
go with my husband.) Come to find out, two of the women were from the same
city--BELLINGHAM; and each said, "Come over for lunch!"
THE PASSION OF CHRIST MOVIE DISCUSSED
Because it really gets boring for
me in the motel (I didn’t bring any work this time), I persuaded my
husband to go about 45 minutes to one hour away to see these friends. (It
was so good of our host to rent us a van.) Our
friends invited us to lunch--which turned out to be a beautiful dinner. We
knew these people from Hawaii. Don’t have time to go into it now; but
we’ve kept in touch once a year or so ever since. Diane, the wife &
mother, homeschools her three children--two girls and a boy. (One is a
teen.) They have a beautiful home which is in a neighborhood where the
street ascends a mountain. It is startlingly lovely. (You may remember Mt.
Reiner is somewhere around there--perhaps closer to Seattle.). Doug, the
husband and father, has his office upstairs. So when he came down for
lunch, guess what he wanted to talk about?
THE PASSION OF CHRIST movie. I’d just done
a "JUST FOR WOMEN" tape on it (JFW #49 @ $4.00 +S&H). The second side is
on the movie. Also, my husband has been giving
hand-outs to our church from various sources pointing out some of the
errors and pitfalls to the movie, etc.
JAMES CAVIEZEL IS NOT JESUS
Our hosts had purchased tickets
for THE PASSION, intending to attend as a family.
But, as they thought about it, they had no liberty to do
so. Now, I know that hundreds of real Christians have gone to that movie.
Yet, I am not sure they understand or detect the unscriptural aspects of
the production. One of our friends objects to the whole thing because we
are not supposed to have an "image" of God and James Caviezel "becomes"
Jesus. I read in some super market magazine that I looked at while waiting
in line, that Caviezel, a devout Catholic who took the Eucharist every day
in order to do this film, attended some Catholic function. I think he was
the speaker at a dinner--maybe it was a lunch. People came up to him just
to touch him or hold his hand or hug him. It was as if they were in awe of
his "holiness." He is not Jesus!
EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE MOVIE
Everywhere we went on that trip
to Washington state, people were talking about that movie.
A couple in the church at Granite Falls saw it three times. She was
impressed and told me that Billy Graham thought it was wonderful. (I
thought he was home in North Carolina recovering from hip surgery.) A
blind man at the Philadelphia airport, who was Catholic, was told by his
Catholic friends it was wonderful because Jesus’ mother, Mary, had such a
prominent part. Yet, when I told a Protestant Christian friend that my
source, who saw the movie, said the Mary was THE STAR she said, "I
didn’ t see that!"
A PURIFYING HOPE
One thing that amazes me is I
thought good, solid, born-again Christians who loved the Lord Jesus Christ
with all their hearts did not go to Hollywood movies!
It used to be called "personal
separation." Have you ever heard of that? When I
was a new Christian and a teenager in love with the Lord, we would ask
ourselves, "Do I want to be in
the movie house when the Lord returns?" The
second coming of Jesus Christ used to be the purifying hope that kept
Christians on the Straight and Narrow. I guess the Straight & Narrow has
some kinks in it now-a-days!!
HOMOSEXUALITY, WINE, & INCEST
Talking about "the Straight &
Narrow," I don’t think I told you about another "JUST FOR WOMAN" TAPE
called "HOMOSEXUALITY, WINE, & INCEST"
(JFW #48 @$4.00+ S+H) This is part of the series on the life of Sarah.
It takes in her nephew Lot’s sins with his daughters that included wine
drinking and incest. What a shame he must have been to his Uncle Abraham.
But Abraham loved Lot and pleaded with God for him. Isn’t that the way
with all of us? We may not love the sin of our loved one but we love them
as people desperately. In that tape (JFW #48), I read from the
FRONTLINE magazine that tells of Preacher & FBFI leader Rod Bell’s
drinking problem forcing him out of the ministry. His doctor told him to
drink wine to help him sleep--of all things! So that was done for seven
years. The preacher was out driving instead of sleeping much of the time.
This goes to show that one never knows if one is an alcoholic until one
takes that first drink. Same way--one never knows if one is an adulterer
or an adulteress, until one gives that first kiss.
A VISIT WITH AN OLD FRIEND
After our good visit with Doug, Diane &
family, we drove to the heart of Bellingham to LOGOS RESEARCH SYSTEMS at
1313 Commercial ST., Bellingham, WA 98225-4372 (www.logos.com).
To be very honest with you, when I called up my friend, Jenny Pritchett, I
wanted to see her. I forgot all about Logos and that fabulous company
their son, Bob, established years ago. I just wanted to see my friend.
Jenny and I used to teach girls at Cherry Hill’s Bethel Baptist Church
about twenty-five years ago. She had the senior girls and I had the 10 &
11th grade girls. Because we taught the same lesson, it was always
delightful to talk about our lessons together. I never had this experience
before in all my church-going. The fellowship was sweet. So when I think
of Jenny, I think of her enthusiasm for the Lord and God’s Words, as well
as good books--not this wonderful computer-program company that has put
her in charge of packaging and shipping.
A PEEK AT LOGOS RESEARCH SYSTEMS
Jenny’s husband is Dale
Pritchett. He, along with son Dan Pritchett, is in charge of marketing.
The oldest son, Bob Pritchett, is the brains and president of the company.
He was in New York state the day we were there. They are doing a great
job! I wish that I could explain this company to you but I just don’t have
the vocabulary. The building is big with high ceilings and many rooms
filled with workers. Some of the workers are
programing, others are helping people who phone with computer problems,
others are billing, others are receiving, others are promoting. In the
beginning Logos put the King James Bible on programs along with other
versions like the NASV, NIV, NKJV, and others. My husband uses the Logos
Bible system all the time. Now the company puts books, and commentaries,
and anything on the computer to aid the Bible student. I wish I could
explain it, but I just can’t. All I can say is that I WAS IMPRESSED! We
were only with Dale and Jenny for one hour. I am so glad we went!
A LEGALLY BLIND FRIEND NOW SEES
I did have two disappointments.
I called Marilyn, whose husband is a pastor in
Kent, Washington. I had no idea where Kent was--except that it was near
Seattle; and we were near Seattle. Found out later--it was about seventeen
miles from Tulalip/ Marysville, where we were staying at the Best Western.
There was no "come on to my house" invitation, but we had a good telephone
talk. I did find out some good news. Previously she was legally blind from
Graves disease. So it was a surprise and delight to hear that she can see
again. What did she do? She went to a naturopathic doctor, paid for it
herself because no insurance would touch it. She followed the plan. NOW
SHE CAN SEE! Praise the LORD!
DISAPPOINTED FRIENDS--THEY AND US
Another BIG disappointment was
that dear friends of ours and the BIBLE FOR TODAY came to see us on the
very Wednesday we took off for Bellingham. Weeks before, I had
called them from New Jersey telling them we would be in their state. THEY
LIVED THREE HOURS AWAY FROM GRANITE FALLS. THEY WANTED TO SEE US AND WE
WANTED TO SEE THEM. They got up at 3:30 A.M., to do some business in
Everett, and then drove over to the church where my husband preached every
evening. THEY ARRIVED AT 11:30 A.M. Only we were not there! We could have
gone to Bellingham any other day of the week if we had only known they
were coming. How disappointed they were. HOW BAD WE FELT
THAT WE HAD MISSED THEM!! Our disappointed friends had called the
CHURCH ANSWERING MACHINE the night before and told the CHURCH’S ANSWERING
MACHINE they would be in town the next morning.
ONLY NO ONE LISTENED TO THE CHURCH
ANSWERING MACHINE! SO OUR FRIENDS WENT HOME--ALL
THOSE MILES WITHOUT SEEING US AND WITH A BAD IMPRESSION OF GRANITE FALLS.
A survey done by Barna Research Group in December 2003 found
that it is very difficult to get in touch with churches. They
called 3,400 Protestant churches five different times over a
two-week period during normal business hours, making sure that the
calls were made at various times of the day. A human being could
not be reached at 55% of the churches. In 20% of the cases, the
phone went unanswered by either a person or an answering machine
in each of the five separate attempts. (Worthy News, January
27)
GOODBYE TO GRANITE FALLS & GOOD MEMORIES
But we did have a good time of service for the Lord in Granite Falls.
The Adams family welcomed us into their home
Wednesday evening with a delicious ham dinner. It was St Patrick’s day and
our hostess was Irish. She celebrated with an appetizing pale green soup.
I wish you could have had some, too.
Our memories of the fellowship with Pastor and
Mrs. Hammond and their people are sweet. Maybe we’ll see them again soon.
Who knows?
THE SUBJECT OF "LYING" AGAIN
Now back to the subject of LYING that I talked about in my last BFT
UPDATE. I can’t tell you when I’ve had such response. Some asked me,
"Are you talking about me, Mrs. Waite?"
Some
wrote letters, and others said, "I better do what I said I would do or
Mrs. Waite will say I am lying!" It has made me examine my own words
and life also. How about you? Then nationally, we have had MARTHA STEWART
found guilty of lying. In nearby Philadelphia, a mother discovered her
missing child after five or six years. Come to find out, a relative had
stolen the little girl as a new-born child, then set the row-house on fire
to cover up her crime. The firemen said the child had perished in the
flame. All of this was lies. I talk about the subject of LYING on the
tape of my radio program called "Lying & The ‘PASSION MOVIE’"
(JFW/49 @ $4.00 + S&H). WHY DID ABRAHAM & SARAH LIE TO ABIMELECH
(GENESIS 20)?
A JAZZ BAND IN A BIBLE-BELIEVING CHURCH
BEFORE WE FLEW TO WASHINGTON STATE, we had a Sunday night meeting in a
church in South Jersey. We really like the
pastor there and know many of the people personally. MY HUSBAND DID A
MASTERFUL JOB OF EXPLAINING WHY THE KING JAMES BIBLE IS THE BIBLE FOR
TODAY (BFT#3177 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H).
But I have to mention my disappointment in
their congregational singing. Now---mind you, they sang conventional songs like
"Blessed Be the Name" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Yet, all of this singing was to a jazz band, led by the beat of a
dance-hall-organ, and a bar-room piano rinkey-dink touch. My husband
is a saxophone player. He has a beautiful tone. As a unsaved youth, he had
a jazz band; but since he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour,
his saxophone playing was redeemed also.
If my husband had not been the
speaker, I would have walked out of the building.
I do not think "making a joyful noise" means a dance beat. Could that have
been the sound Moses heard as he descended the Mount of God? No wonder he
dropped the Ten Commandments!
"WHOOPS! I FORGOT MY COMPUTER!"
Last night my husband spoke at
FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH, Route 352 & Knowlton Road in Media, Pennsylvania
19063. PASTOR CHRIS KEAY (610-447-1527) is an energetic pastor with a
heart for souls in his area. This is an interesting church. It meets in the lower level
of a dentistry building. They rent the complete downstairs area for $1,800
a month which seems like a lot to me, but Pastor Keay felt it a good price
considering what the dentist asked for it in the beginning. He had to
fight the township in order to have religious services there by going to
court and using a special Law that protects churches against zoning abuse.
The name of the law is "RELIGIOUS LAND USE AND INSTITUTIONALIZED PERSON’S
ACT OF 2000." They won their case in the federal court in Philadelphia. I
admire his stance for freedom of religion! There may come a time when we
all will have to exercise our legal rights in order to meet around the
Word of God together. My husband
spoke on THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS (BFT#3181 @ $4.00
+ $1.00 S&H).
We got to the church early in order to set up Dr. Waite’s power-point
presentation. Alas! He forgot his computer! The
brains of the whole presentation was back in Collingswood. Fortunately my
husband knows his subject and he gave an excellent lecture without that
fancy invention. It was like old times. We enjoyed the fellowship with the
Keay family and friends at Freedom. In fact, one of the men there has a
brother who is pastoring a church near to us here in New Jersey. A small
world!
Before I leave talking about that church, I must mention that on a
neighboring property stands a large building in which a Jewish
congregation meets. It is sad because years ago,
that building was a thriving Bible-preaching church. I do not know why the
demise of that evangelistic fortress! Pastor Keay knocks on doors in the
area leaving literature and a witness. Often he finds people who used to
go to that dissolved church. They say they are saved but they attend
nowhere. One time, he met the son of the former pastor of that defunct
church. The son appeared to be indifferent to the very gospel his father
had proclaimed. A sad commentary on Christian living!
It makes me appreciate our own children who walk with the Lord!

A Letter or Two
"I’ve written you in the past thanking you for your broadcast on
SermonAudio.com and for your DEFINED KING JAMES BIBLE. Well, I’d like
to thank you again and this time for your LIVE BROADCASTS on your
BFTBC.ORG website . . . ."
"Thank you again for posting the two hour radio sermons on the KJB
on SermonAudio.com. I should get college credits for listening to
them. My son loves his DEFINED KING JAMES BIBLE. He is seven. . ."
"I signed your guest book back in January. We absolutely love your
sermons on SermonAudio.com. I wish we lived closer so that we could
attend your church. Praise God for pastors out there who preach the
gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ without compromise!"
"Just to let you know that I received THE REVISION REVISED
(BFT #611 @ $25.00 + $4.00 S&H) today. Thank you for your excellent
service. You may have spotted that I live in Chichester, England where
Rev. Burgon was Dean. Yet I was unable to find a copy anywhere. I
don’t suppose any of the clergy have actually read it. I guess there
could be a copy tucked away in the cathedral’s vaults somewhere! I
have always loved the AV and I think that the Dean’s book will provide
me with sound reason for that affection.. . ."
"Thank you for staying in touch all these years. We will always be
grateful to God for Chaplain Waite in our Navy years at Corpus
Christi. The priceless gift of salvation and the years since would
never have been, probably had the Lord not led us to Chaplain D. A.
Waite, Vonnie, & the family, too."
So Good To Visit With You Again, We Appreciate Your Friendship.
In God’s Care,
Yvonne S. Waite
