It’s been so long since writing you, I hope I have not forgotten how! One reason I have not written is I was determined to clean up my office mess. Am I the only one with clutter? I clip items of interest from magazines and papers for my files. Since having my JUST FOR WOMEN radio program, I’ve developed an extensive file on current events, lifestyle changes, health, church & religious news, and many subjects Christian women should know about.I have one four-drawer file cabinet full of such information.

The Cry of Sodomy

For instance, I have oodles of information on homosexuality. It seems to be the up-and-coming subject in our country besides Presidential-primary-contending. What was I supposed to do with it all? Then, as I was teaching the women in the radio audience about SARAH--LAUGHING, LISTENING, & LEARNING (#JFW/45 @ $4.00) (she’s our example wife), I realized that it was my duty to talk about Sodomy and God’s condemnation of such sin, and called those programs THE CRY OF SODOMY (#JFW/46 @ $4.00). When I discussed the subject with another Christian woman, I was surprised to hear her say that the sin of Sodom was not homosexuality but it was PRIDE. She used EZEKIEL l6 to prove her point. That is the very passage that out-of-the-closet VIRGINIA MOLLENKOTT used to prove that a committed lesbian/homosexual relationship is just fine and God-blessed. If you remember, several years ago, when I interviewed Mrs. Mollenkott, in the course of the interview, I asked her if she were a lesbian. I had heard rumors and wanted to get it straight. She said that if she said she was or she wasn’t, it would offend both--either the straight or the gay population. That interview was made in California shortly after she and Letha Scanzoni came out with their book IS THE HOMOSEXUAL, MY NEIGHBOR? She said I was rude. I was giving her an opportunity to clarify the truth of the matter. I did not know that was a rude question, as I would not consider it so if I were asked personally for a clarification of my sexual orientation. Since then--in fact just the other day--I heard on the television that to ask someone their sexual orientation was rude. (How was I to know? And why is that so?)

So, I asked Dr. Waite to come on my radio program for this present series to explain the "picture" language of SODOM and SAMARIA in that passage. As we are well aware, Sodom had been destroyed years and years before the prophet Ezekiel was ever born. There is also a passage in REVELATION 11:8 that speaks of our LORD JESUS CHRIST’s crucifixion in a "spiritual" Sodom and Egypt. That, too, is picture language! I’LL BE THERE SUNDAY

I am reminded of a parent who kept telling Pastor Waite, "Oh Yes, I’ll be at church Sunday!" And that parent seldom, if ever, showed up. Yet, week after week the parent’s answer was, "I’ll be there!" One time the child answered the phone. "We missed you in church last week," my husband said, and then commented,"Your parent said you would be there." Without hesitation the child replied, "HE LIES!" Out of the mouths of babes often comes the truth!

Year’s ago, a young woman said to me, "Mrs. Waite, I want you to teach me to sing." I wasn’t sure that I could, but I was willing. She said, "I’ll be over on Monday!" So, for several days, I thought about what I should do to teach this person to sing. I am not a voice teacher but I do sing. I did have a few voice lessons in the past, and my mother was a wonderful soloist. My Aunt took years of vocal lessons as a young woman. So I prepared mentally for such instruction. She never came. SHE LIED! Some say that they’ll be over to help us and never come. Some say they "love" us forever and they leave us forever. THEY LIE!

AN INSIDE FAMILY JOKE

So I have an inside, family joke with my husband when people say they are going to do something and don’t, I whisper to him, "SHE LIES!" Or "HE LIES!" I have come to discount what certain people say because they have told me so many untruths in the past. They are called "LITTLE WHITE LIES"? Preachers & evangelists tell stories about other ministers--fabulous tales; only at the end of the story we listeners discover the whole tale was only a joke. IS THAT A LIE? I think so, for sometimes I go away from those meetings thinking that this jesting fabrication was the truth. But the thing that is astounding to me is that these people do not realize they are lying. One person told my husband that this person would contribute regularly to the radio ministry. In fact, it was that "promise" that moved Pastor Waite to sign a radio contract. Do you know something? That person never gave one penny towards the radio fund. THAT PERSON LIED! A tall man with a "tall tale" needed money. He promised to pay it back in one week. He never did. HE LIED! A businessman says he would call me on an investment matter. He doesn’t call. He doesn’t call, and he doesn’t call!! HE LIES! These are so-called "born-again" Christian people. What must our LORD think? A couple in love stands before a preacher and promises love, devotion, and faithfulness to each other on their wedding day. Before the ink is dry on the license, many newly-weds turn on each other. Soon they divorce. THEY HAVE LIED! They have lied to each other and to God. On a lesser level, people pledge friendship and loyalty to each other, only to turn in caring, to break that friendship over the silliest of matters. MORE LIES! Lately on the news, we have been told that our President has lied to us concerning weapons of mass destruction. Yet, we are told that it was the President’s informants who lied to him. THEY LIED!

DOES EVERYONE LIE?

It behooves us to tell the TRUTH. We who have surrendered our lives to the LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who is the TRUTH, should pledge to be truthful. It is better not to say something than to lie about it. Yet, sometimes to remain silent is lying. It is better to have a clean heart than to avoid the truth. I have strived in my Christian life to be truthful . In doing so, I’m afraid I have hurt people’s feelings. Some think I have a lack of tack. I have not developed the ability to tell the truth and lie at the same time. To some, my truthfulness is blunt. I don’t mean it to be. Just because everyone else is a prevaricator doesn’t mean that we should be. What do you think?

A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness will utter lies.
