Pray for the Bennetts in Australia as they with God's help and for His glory are seeking to establish: Western Plains Baptist Fellowship, and Gilgandra Baptist Fellowship as New Testament Baptist churches.
DECEMBER 2008 - JANUARY, 2009
Dear Friends in Christ,
THANKSGIVING - 1Thesslonias 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." We celebrated Thanksgiving with our son, Jonathan, his family, and our unsaved friends Bob and Elizabeth. This couple we have known almost since our moving to Dubbo. He is Anglican and she Roman Catholic. As we continue to witness to ths dear couple we ask that you please continue to take their names before the Throne of Grace for salvation.
CHRISTMAS - Luke 2:6, 7 "And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."
It seems as though we have said the same thing the last couple of years BUT it really does seem this time of the year comes sooner than the last! Perhaps we say this due to our growing more mature (or another word is older). In spite of the worldís having no room for Him in their hearts and lives, the world continually goes round the bend at Christmas spending money they do not have on items most do not need! In spite of this, the wonderful news is our Saviour, Godís only begotten Son, "came into the world to save sinners" 1 Timothy 1:15. That is the Christmas message, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"! If you have ever stood on the street handing out tracts you know most do not know Him and have no desire to know Him. That is the condition of the world in which He came and in which we now live. It is also worth noting in John 15:18 that Jesus said "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you" and that John follows this up in 1John 3:13 "Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you." Now, for what reason will the world hate the believer? Peter said in 1 Peter 4:15 "let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters" but "...if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf" 1Peter 4:16. As we finish 2008 and enter 2009 it is not hard to see the clouds of Christian persecution forming on the horizon. The absolute necessity of salvation only through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work, creation as opposed to evolution, the Bible as the very Word and Words of God and a Gospel that is "the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth" is as repugnant and despised now as ever before in the history of this world. Remember brethren to "not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
As we look back on 2008 we praise the Lord for two new grand-daughters. In April little Keirston was born to Jonathan and Lynne and then in August Matthew and Alyson had little Sydney Anne.
This gives us five grand-daughters and six grandsons. Our oldest is now 19 and the youngest is five months. Praise the Lord for these precious lives that we pray will be a witness for the Lord Jesus.
The first week in December David finished the Certificate II course in Information Technology. He has enjoyed this course but especially enjoyed meeting new people. He has been able to share the Gospel with some at coffee breaks. It really was not a surprise that not a single one knows the Lord or really understands the Gospel message. Most were either Anglican or Roman Catholic. David may not see these people much now that the class is over but we ask that you pray with us for the salvation of Trent, John, Lorna D., Marcia, Greg, Nelson (not in the photo), Zoe, Carmel, Ros, Barbara, Faye, Terry, Sharyn and the instructor Lorna J. Perhaps the seed has been planted and along the way someone else will do the watering and the fruit of salvation will be the result! 1Corinthians 3:7 "So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase."
In January we have our friend Rosemary and her daughter Shereen visiting. We mentioned Rosemary losing her husband, John, in our September Ė October letter. Rosemary made a profession of salvation when we were neighbours in Sydney. We continue to pray for spiritual growth in her life.
Also continue to remember Pamís brotherís wife Karen as she is in the last stages of cancer. Some of you have gone through this experience so you can empathize with Danny.
Before we close we want to thank everyone who remembered Pamís birthday as well as thanking you for your continued financial support. We know some of our churches would be feeling the impact of all this financial turmoil. Philippians 4: 6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
May each of you have a very blessed Christmas and may "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all" throughout the New Year of 2009.
