The article begins by saying AUSTRALIANS should not be scared of Sharia law because it is consistent with our own culture and values, the country's new Muslim leader says. Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, the Grand Mufti of Australia said he was clarifying the misconceptions about our religion". The debate he said was clouded by misunderstanding and a focus on the more extreme punishments, such as a death penalty for Muslims who convert to another religion. He did not deny the fact this is practiced in Islamic countries with Sharia but Freedom is a Sharia law, respecting others is a Sharia law, justice is a Sharia law, tax and paying tax and fulfilling your obligations is also considered to be a Sharia law, respecting others and honouring others, that is all Sharia law.             As to Australias involvement in Afghanistan it had the potential to inflame passions in the community, adding: It is a nature of mankind that if there is any oppression upon any nation that our emotions start to move and react.             When we were living in Sydney a family attending our church went to Saudi Arabia for his job and they were not allowed to even take a Bible into the country. Pastor Nadakhani was arrested in 2009 and was told by an Iranian court this year that he would be executed unless he converted to Islam. The court gave him four chances to recant Christianity, and he refused to do so on four consecutive days this week, the final being Wednesday, Compass Direct News reported.             Christians have rights under the Iranian constitution but not under Sharia law, which according to the Iranian courts supersedes the constitution.  So much for freedom! However, a December 2010 court ruling issued and signed by Supreme Court judges Morteza Fazel and Azizoallah Razaghi mentions the religious charges against Nadarkhani and nothing more. Now As the case slowly garners international attention, the rape allegation is a signal that Nadarkhani has become, to put it bluntly, a public relations disaster for Iran. Military chaplains may perform same-sex marriages, even on military bases, in states where such ceremonies are allowed but will not be forced to do so, the Pentagon said.... However, The Pentagon did avoid another potentially controversial issue: recognition of same-sex marriage for the purpose of extending military benefits. The memo notes that a military chaplains participation in a same-sex marriage does not constitute an endorsement of the ceremony by [the] DoD. May the Lord have mercy on the United States of America!
