http://www.christianpost.com/article/20100212/some-christians-declare-evolution-faith-are-compatible/index.html February 12 2010 CHURCH OF ENGLAND DECLARES EVOLUTION, FAITH ARE COMPATIBLE (Edited by DCB) The governing body of the Church of England has approved a motion that emphasizes the compatibility of belief in both God and science. Of course the science of which they are speaking is the false science of evolution. Each year congregations which do not place the Scriptures as their final authority celebrate what is known as Evolution Weekend. This year more than 850 congregations throughout the globe are celebrating Evolution Weekend with the aim of demonstrating that evolution poses no problems for their faith. Michael Zimmerman, who is founder of Evolution Weekend and professor of Biology at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, said Evolution Weekend shows that the disagreement is actually not between religious leaders and scientists, but rather between those who believe that their particular religious views should be incorporated into the science curriculum and clergy who recognize and respect the diversity of different faith traditions. Southern Baptist Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr. disagrees by saying he finds it impossible to reconcile the two. While he does not deny that changes do take place in the animal kingdom and that there is even a process of natural selection, he firmly rejects theistic evolution and the argument that the process is entirely natural and in no case supernatural.
http://www.christianpost.com/article/20100212/push-for-islamic-courts-in-kenya-alarms-christians/index.html February 12 2010 PUSH FOR ISLAMIC COURTS IN KENYA ALARMS CHRISTIANS (Edited by DCB) Constitutional provisions for Islamic or Kadhis courts have existed in Kenya since 1963, with the courts serving the countrys coastal Muslim population in matters of personal status, marriage, divorce, or inheritance. Kenyas secular High Court has jurisdiction over civil and criminal matters, and even a decision in the Islamic courts can be appealed at the High Court.
The Islamic courts have functioned only in Kenyas Coast Province, but in a hotly debated draft constitution, their jurisdiction would expand across the nation and their scope would increase. The proposed constitution has gathered enough momentum that 23 leaders of churches and Christian organizations released a statement on Feb. 1 asserting their opposition to any inclusion of such religious courts. This just goes to show that political Islam cannot operate within a democratic society. Can you imagine if Jews sought to enforce Old Testament laws within a democratic society?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1250464/Curate-outrages-congregation-telling-women-silent-submit-husbands.html CURATE OUTRAGES CONGREGATION BY TELLING WOMEN TO 'BE SILENT AND SUBMIT TO YOUR HUSBANDS' 12 February, 2010 (Edited by DCB) When a denomination drifts from the authority of the Scriptures there is no stopping. Therefore the Church of England is now fighting a battle within over such issues as the ordination of women and sodomites. Two Church of England ministers have ruffled quite a few feathers by stating that wives are to submit to their husbands in everything. One feather ruffled womans response was Were supposed to let our husbands talk for us and remain silent? What kind of medieval sermon is that? These two ministers are a part of an evangelical group called Reform which believes that leaders of a church should be men and have produced a leaflet to explain this view. However, the leaflets message has been misinterpreted. Nevertheless, one wise 24 year old woman was quoted saying Isnt it a vicars job not to tell you what everyone wants to hear and what society says, but to help explain what the Bible says about issues?
http://www.christianpost.com/article/20100213/openly-gay-priest-receives-nods/index.html OPENLY GAY EPISCOPAL PRIEST RECEIVES MORE NODS 13 February, 2010 (Edited by DCB) The American Episcopal church has just had A controversial priest who has a lesbian partner receive more than half the votes needed to be consecrated as an assistant bishop. This lesbian has 29 of the 56 needed votes to be confirmed as the second openly homosexual bishop in The Episcopal Church. Quoting any Scripture would fall on deaf ears as this group moves deeper into apostasy.
http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Doctors+back+right/2568891/story.html DOCTORS BACK 'RIGHT TO DIE' CONSULTATION; BUT MDS OPPOSE ASSISTED SUICIDE
16 February, 2010 (Edited by DCB) In Quebec, Canada the Polls indicate a high percentage of Quebecers favour euthanasia, including doctors. However, GaƩtan Barrette and Yves Lamontagne of the Quebec College of Physicians told the committee that doctors do not want to perform assisted suicides. Lamontagne said doctors are not there to execute people. Yves Robert, the secretary of the College said Quebec is the only jurisdiction in Canada where patients can refuse medical treatment, which can lead to death. Roberts then said We are ahead. Can we go farther? Accepting abortion and sodomy has now opened the door wide for the acceptance of almost anything and everything.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.swordofthelord.com/indbaptmovement.htm THE INDEPENDENT BAPTIST MOVEMENT - ITS IDEALS, ITS INTEGRITY, ITS IMPERATIVES by Dr. Shelton Smith (Edited by DCB) This is an excellent article defining the independent Baptist movement and the trend of some independent Baptist churches moving back into the SBC. In part Dr. Shelton wrote In 2007, the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga signed on with the Tennessee Baptist Convention (Southern Baptist state body in Tennessee). Their current status is listed as an at large member, which is a ploy that allows them officially to join the Convention without immediately seeking membership in the local Hamilton County Association in Chattanooga. It is worthy of note that when an independent Baptist church aligns itself with the Convention, it is the independent Baptist that changes. It doesnt take its strong stand into the Convention. Never is that the case. Its always the independent who lines up with them and changes philosophy and practice! At http://www.tnbaptist.org/churchsearch.asp?frmZipCode=&frmName=&frmCity=Chattanooga&Submit=Search&offset=20 Highland Park is listed as a SBC Church. Then at http://www.hpbc.net/ on Wednesday night at 7:00 is a Contemporary Service called Stained Glass which is a...service full of praise and worship (led by our praise band), dynamic preaching, and awesome fellowship. Students and young couples are...encouraged to attend...but anyone who loves an upbeat, spirit-filled service should attend.
