Donald Allen Waite

In the early morning hours of May 4, 2024, Donald Allen Waite went home to be with the LORD while in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  He lived in Collingswood, New Jersey from the summer of 1965 to the spring of 2023. 

He was born in Elyria, Ohio, and graduated as salutatorian from Ohio’s Berea High School where he met his wife-to-be Yvonne Sanborn during his senior year.

He earned a classical languages B.A. in three years from The University of Michigan, a top of his class Th.M. and Th.D. (Greek Exposition of Ephesians) from The Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. (Public Speaking Techniques of Billy Graham) from Purdue University.

He graduated top of his class from The Great Lakes Officers’ Candidate School and was commissioned as a U.S. Navy Chaplain.

He founded and pastored Faith Baptist Church of Newton, Massachusetts.

He was one of the founding trustees of the BIBLE FOR TODAY, INCORPORATED and served as its Director and President until his death.

Although he wrote hundreds of books and pamphlets, Defending the King James Bible is his most influential and most widely circulated book.

He was the founder of THE DEAN BURGON SOCIETY, INCORPORATED and served as its President from its founding until c. two years ago.

In his 27 years as Pastor of the Bible For Today Baptist Church, he faithfully proclaimed the Word of God. Audio and video versions of his messages are widely available and many have been transcribed and put into printed form as well.

Donald Allen Waite was pre-deceased by his father Virgil Henry Waite, his mother Helen Pierce Waite, his sister Ann Waite Andrews, his sister Dorothy Waite Benedict, his wife Yvonne Sanborn Waite, his son David William Waite, and his daughter-in-law Jeanette Lazar Waite.

He is survived by son Donald Allen Waite, Jr. and wife Penny; son Richard Norman Waite and wife Lorraine; daughter Dianne Cosby and husband Reggie; son Daniel Stephen Waite and wife Tamie; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family is being served by the DuBois Funeral Home, 700 S. White Horse Pike Audubon NJ 08106. Visitation is Thursday, May 9, 2024 between 11:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow. Interment is at Harleigh Cemetery 1640 Haddon Ave. Camden, NJ 08103. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to THE BIBLE FOR TODAY, INCORPORATED P.O Box 361 Collingswood, NJ 08108.
